✧ backstory [ this is gonna take some time lmao ] TW // death mention, fire mio was a reletively normal child, raised in a traditional village and had a particular interest with things deemed spiritual. one was also a relatively curious child, ready to test anything unheard of. as mio grew older they became even more inquisitive, and as a result, more reckless to find answers. their room towered with old books of witchcraft and spirit summoning. aer dream was to come in contact with a ghost, something everyone claimed was impossible. through hours of scouring books, & reading every line in tattered papers, ae found very specific instructions, too specific to just be a urban legend. -- and as it so was, it called for candles,, lots of them. mio felt as if this was a calling for oneself, to finally meet a ghost! they collected every candle and piece of wax they could find hurrying around with excitement - the words of their mother's warning thoroughly forgotten. - the candles sat on the floor, ready to be lit ablaze. mio placed the final candle to complete the pattern, and smiled, fully of anxiety and hope. this was something they've wished for all their life, something one didn't even know could be possible! they slowly lit each candle on fire. one by one, the flames started up, crackling in the cold air. mio grew increasingly impatient, too on-edge to wait for an answer. ae started to more quickly touch the sparks to the wicks, their movements becoming less cautious. soon, they were sprinting around the house, giggling and carelessly lighting every candle. little did one know that behind them, a slip of paper was blown onto a lit candle, combusting into flames. the sparks landed on other object, steadily spreading throughout the house. mio, oblivious, kept prancing excitedly, becoming surer every second that their work would pay off. they skidded into the living room, taken aback by the flash of light. they never knew candles could be so blinding... but this wasn't just a candle. an inferno had appeared in the room, spraying flicks of fire towards every wall. /this must be the summoning! my dream is becoming true!!/, mio thought. they quickly hopped into the room in which one had started in, heart pumping with anticipation. a bright flash of light struck them, & ae gasped in awe. * * * a nameless being woke up, in what seemed to be an old style cottage. it looked around, pondering where they were. it slowly crept to a mostly singed piece of yellow paper, reading the curious words.
