*Please read the whole project before recording your lines!* Sry this is kinda written in book format...I'm a novelist, not a script writer so....Sry! EPISODE 1: THE REBELS QUEEN ALESSIA: Straighten your back, Beatrice! Posture is key when wearing a ball gown. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Mother! This is pointless. I don’t even want to go to the ball to meet the prince. QUEEN ALESSIA: Well, that’s too bad because you are going to go to the ball, Beatrice! BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (whining) Mother! QUEEN ALESSIA: No. I don’t want to hear it. We talked about this already! BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (groan) QUEEN ALESSIA: Now, is the back tied tight enough? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (sounding annoyed) Yes. It’s more than tight enough. Can I leave now? QUEEN ALESSIA: Leave? Leave where? It’s almost 11:00 at night. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Anywhere but here. QUEEN ALESSIA: Beatrice, you can’t just- Anailee walks in ANAILEE BISHOP (MAID): My queen. Your tea is ready. QUEEN ALESSIA: Thank you, Anailee. Beatrice, you are not to leave this castle. Do you understand? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Mhm. QUEEN ALESSIA: I’m sorry, I didn’t hear that properly. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I said okay! Gosh. QUEEN ALESSIA: Good. Now, I expect you to be in bed by 11:30. Take off that dress and have Anailee bring it to the tailor. Then get some rest. Okay? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: All right. Beatrice walks out of the room Cut to, Beatrice is shown putting supplies in a bag ANAILEE BISHOP (MAID): Beatrice…are you sure you want to do this? The kingdom is very dangerous at night. Especially for a little princess like you. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I’m sure. I’ve been inside all day trying on dresses for the ball. If I don’t get some fresh air I might suffocate. ANAILEE BISHOP (MAID): All right. Please…be safe. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I will. Promise. Beatrice takes her bag and slings it over her shoulder. Then she walks over to her window and climbs down a rope to the ground. She puts her hood up and starts walking through the village. About 30 minutes later, Beatrice is in the middle of the village and trying not to be spotted. Someone notices her. EXTRA: Wait…Is that the princess? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Uh oh. EXTRA #2: It is! Princess! Princess Beatrice! BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Shh! Please. I’m not supposed to be here right now. PEASANT: Oooh. A rebel, are ya? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Um…No. PEASANT: Oh, yea? Why are you out here roaming the streets at midnight then, hu? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Um. The queen needed me to get something for her. From a shop. Yeah. PEASANT: (cocky laugh) Who knew the princess was such a horrible liar. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (scoff) Listen, don’t tell anyone I was here. Okay? PEASANT: I won’t. On one condition. You listen to what I have to tell you. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Fine. *kneels next to peasant* Go ahead. PEASANT: This kingdom had dark secrets. Secrets so evil that I can’t speak of them. But, I’ve been watching you, Beatrice. I see a fire in you. A fire that can’t be put out. That’s exactly what we need to save our people. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Um…I’m confused. Our people? PEASANT: Well, my people. The common folk. People who don’t have royal status. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Oh. PEASANT: Anyway, your mother has done horrible things to us. We’re tortured, starved, beaten. All because we’re not fortunate enough to be born into royal status. Is that fair in your opinion, Beatrice? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: No. It’s not. PEASANT: Exactly. That’s why we need you. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Um… I don’t know. If it’s not true- PEASANT: (accusing tone) You think your kingdom is pure and perfect, don’t you? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: No! No. I never said that. I just think that I need to be careful with whom I trust. I’m not gullible. PEASANT: I know. Why else would I be asking you, of all people. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: *rolls eyes* I need evidence before I go trying to overthrow my own parents. PEASANT: Fine. Go to the library. On the top shelf, there’s a book with a crimson red cover. There’s all the information you need in there. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: But- PEASANT: Beatrice, we need you! Please, end the suffering of us common folk. If you don’t…it’ll be too late. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (sigh) More people are starting to recognize Beatrice EXTRA : Is that the princess? EXTRA : Princess! Princess Beatrice! Over here! EXTRA : Why is she out so late at night? EXTRA : Oh my! It’s the princess!! BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I have to go. Beatrice looks around for a place to run and takes off running for the nearest horse-drawn carriage. EXTRA : Where to? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Um…The library, please. EXTRA : All right. About 20 minutes later Beatrice is shown standing at the door of the library (continued ↓)
BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (mumbling to self) Okay…just…look for the book and if it’s not there I can just forget I ever heard about it. *deep breath* She walks in and starts looking for the book and after about 5 minutes is going to give up when she sees it on the top very top of the tall bookshelf BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: There it is. She sees a rolling ladder and walks over to it. Then she steps on and climbs up. Then she grabs the book and climbs down. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Okay. Let’s see… She starts flipping through the pages and stops abruptly at a page splattered with something red BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: What the… She sits down at a table under a lamp and reads the page. (I’m not going to put what the page says here, but I’ll post something about it soon) The page ends in the middle of the writer’s sentence. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Where’s the rest? It just…ends? She starts flipping through the pages again, but the rest is blank. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: That can’t be it. Suddenly, she sees a symbol on the very last page. Under it is one sentence: They did it to us, and they’ll do it to you. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (whispering) That symbol… (normal) I’ve got to go talk to Valerie. Beatrice gets up, grabs the book, and runs out of the library. Later BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: *knocking on window* Val? Val! Are you there? VALERIE DAYLUME: *walks to window* Beatrice? *opens window* What’s wrong? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I need your help. VALERIE DAYLUME: Okay…I’ll unlock the front door. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Thank you. Valerie walks to the front door and opens it. Beatrice walks in. VALERIE DAYLUME: Are you okay? You look like you’ve been running for a while. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: (heavy breathing) No, I’m not okay. *holds up book* Does this symbol look familiar to you? VALERIE DAYLUME: Um…Yes. My father…he had a coat with that symbol on it. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: I knew it! Look at this book. *hands book to her* Doesn’t the handwriting look familiar? VALERIE DAYLUME: Yeah. It looks like my dad’s handwriting. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Read the last page. Valerie reads the page. She turns pale. VALERIE DAYLUME: Beatrice…where’d you find this? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: The library. Why? VALERIE DAYLUME: This is my dad’s journal. He took it with him to prison…It was supposed to be given to my brother at his funeral. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: But they didn’t give it to him because it had information they wanted kept secret. VALERIE DAYLUME: But what information? BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: …They didn’t want people to know what they did to their prisoners. VALERIE DAYLUME: Well…What are we supposed to do about it? It’s not like we can change anything. BEATRICE NIGHTHAWK: Can’t we? Tense music. Screen goes black. Episode one DONEEEE.
