He simply can’t seem to remember many things— even if he thinks they’re important at the time. No matter how much he tells himself to remember something, it’s still likely that he’ll forget. Most of the time this occurs with rather insignificant things, such as forgetting he was supposed to be doing an apprentice duty, but can also occur for more important things, like promises he might have made. He is not forgetful to the extreme, but it is significant enough so that those who know him likely know that reminders are often necessary for Buttercuprain. ──────〖Quiet〗────── ❝ sᴏᴍᴇᴛɪᴍᴇs ɪᴛ ɪs ᴛʜᴇ ǫᴜɪᴇᴛ ᴏʙsᴇʀᴠᴇʀ ᴡʜᴏ sᴇᴇs ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏsᴛ. ❞ - ᴋᴀᴛʜʀʏɴ ʟ. ɴᴇʟsᴏɴ (I couldn’t find anything from the chosen author) Quiet both in tone and in willingness to speak, some may strain to hear Buttercuprain’s words, or find it a challenge to get him to speak at all. He prefers listening over joining in on conversations, simply allowing others to speak for him than speaking himself. If someone says something he would agree with, he often uses that as his voice— and if someone says something he disagrees with, he’ll sometimes wait for another to share a similar opinion to his before speaking his own. Listening allows him to observe more of what others think and how they act, and speaking is sometimes unnecessary. He prefers to linger in the background of conversations, rather than leading the conversation forward. Buttercuprain is often comfortable in silences that some others might rush to fill with words. ───〖Soft & Sentimental〗─── ❝ ᴍᴀʏ ɪᴛ ʙᴇ ᴀ ʟɪɢʜᴛ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ɪɴ ᴅᴀʀᴋ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇs, ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴀʟʟ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ʟɪɢʜᴛs ɢᴏ ᴏᴜᴛ. ❞ Warmhearted and sweet, Buttercuprain is a rather soft cat. He is soft in the definition of being quiet, as mentioned before, and as in the fluffiness of his fur— but more than that, he is kind and gentle, always careful with the emotions of others. Additionally, he is affectionate, always willing to express his fondness of his family, friends, and clan. He cares for those in his life more than anything else, and will readily ensure that they are aware of this. He is also quite sentimental, and remembrances of fond pasts are important to him. Symbols and objects that represent these remembered moments are likewise very valuable to him, and he often keeps objects symbolizing even the unpleasant moments of life, to remember that he got past them. ───〖Obedient/Passive〗─── ❝ ᴀᴅᴠɪᴄᴇ ɪs ᴀ ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs ɢɪғᴛ, ᴇᴠᴇɴ ғʀᴏᴍ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡɪsᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡɪsᴇ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴀʟʟ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇs ᴍᴀʏ ʀᴜɴ ɪʟʟ.❞ In addition to Buttercuprain’s meek submissiveness, he is both obedient and passive. He is always willing to obey the orders or tasks from those of higher authority, and is constantly hoping to please. This is true also in the way that is not negative, unlike his submissiveness, being that he tries his best to follow the reasonable rules and requests, compliant with most that is asked of him. This makes it easy for him to blend with crowds of other disciplined members of the clan, rather than standing out as rebellious. He is passive, allowing things to happen to him without resistance, and believing in a lamblike way that whatever comes will prove to be for the better. >>
<< ─────〖Indecisive〗───── ❝ ᴀʟʟ ᴡᴇ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴅᴇᴄɪᴅᴇ ɪs ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴅᴏ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɪs ɢɪᴠᴇɴ ᴜs. ❞ Along with many other things, Buttercuprain is rather indecisive. It is difficult for him to make decisions quickly, and he often requires a length of thought before determining his decision for certain. This is true for simple things, such as which type of prey to bring to the elders, but is also true for significant decisions that are likely to alter the course of his or another’s life. Often times he tries to not have to choose at all, his hesitation and uncertainty leading to him asking another to decide for him. If multiple are involved in a decision, it’s not unlikely for him to wait for everyone else to choose and then go with the majority. ──────〖Dependent〗────── ❝ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ɢᴏ ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ɪ ᴄᴀɴ'ᴛ ғᴏʟʟᴏᴡ! ❞ Just as he depends on others to make decisions for him, Buttercuprain also depends on them for instruction, comfort, and safety. The way of a clan is, of course, to depend on your clanmates— but Buttercuprain does so a bit excessively. While performing simple tasks, he often worries that he’s doing it wrong, or that he’ll make a small mistake that will ruin everything for someone. As a result, he’s frequently found hesitantly asking another to make sure he’s doing it right, even if he has done the task hundreds of times before without fail. This conflicts greatly with his desire to not inconvenience. He doesn’t want to ask for persistent help— other cats have things to do, too— but if he doesn’t, something could go wrong, or he could make a horrible mistake which everyone would be angry with him for. Sometimes he hopes that another will simply end up supervising him without him having to ask. Despite trying not to, it’s not hard for him to start taking something for granted, and may start to simply copy others rather than truly learning a required skill. ─────〖Unconfident〗───── ❝ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡᴀs ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴀᴡᴋᴡᴀʀᴅ ᴡᴇᴅɴᴇsᴅᴀʏ ʜᴇ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ʀᴇᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀᴇᴅ. ❞ Buttercuprain is rather unconfident and apprehensive; he constantly second-guesses his decisions, and is quick to become self conscious about things he had said or done. It doesn’t take much for him to start replaying things he’s said in a recent conversation, wondering what others thought of it, and thinking of how he could have said something better. He becomes embarrassed quite easily as a result of his lack of confidence, and can sometimes become a bit nervous in social interactions. Buttercuprain is also rather awkward at times— while he understands others very well, he sometimes becomes at loss as to how to respond to what he has observed.
