Chapter 2 of "Shining World" ~~~ A Sentakushi Story ~~~ Emiri ~~~ Her throat felt clogged as the 8th grade classroom door opened. The kids were talking amongst themselves, laughing, reading, a few shouting... but everyone went silent when Emiri entered. Her wide, sunny-colored eyes fell to her feet. The teacher cleared her throat. "Please introduce yourself." Emiri's hands were shaking and sweaty, gripping her case in front of her body. "....I'm- I- Em..-" "Words, Pinky!" a male in the back said, and people started laughing. "I'm not a Telepath, young lady. You need to speak words." the teacher pressed, just trying to get class over with. "Yeah, Pigtails!" The class started to groan and chatter with each other about the new girl. "...why is her hair pink, anyways? Looks like the bubblegum I shove under the desk." "She's short, too..." "Shorty!" "The Pink Shorty with Pigtails!!" That group burst into laughter, "Good one, Enya!" She was humiliated. "Emiri...!" Everyone looked up, "Seriously? What kind of stupid name is that?!" And everyone started laughing again. Emiri bowed her head and sat in an empty seat, tears welling up in her eyes. [What did I do to deserve this?] she thought, as she pulled out a book full of fairy tales. [Why can't I be like these people? So lucky. So many friends.] * Three days later * Emiri was reading at lunch, alone... again. She was in the middle of Cinderella... again... when the book was snatched from her. She immediately launched to her feet and tried to snatch it back... but the male held it over her head. "Little kids stories, seriously?" he chuckled as he read it while holding it in the air. "I guess you won't want this again...." he murmured- then tossed it in the garbage bin. "No!" Emiri yelped, but she wasn't about to dig in the trashcan for it. "Oh well, fairy tales are ded, anyways... just like you should be. Especially with the flashy, glowing fingertip of yours." The bullying continued. Over. and Over. and over.... Her parents finally started to see her s//ffering when they noticed that a bl//de was missing from their kitchen set. So then... finally... then pulled her out of the normal elf school and put her Kik Nai.
