I used the same project from last year, but changed some stuff ofc. Flag, then space to go forward. Transcript below! Hiyaaa! It's Chaos, with my 2023 gaehive manager application! So! Question one: A bit about you, and how long you've been in the gaehive. I've been here for around two years now! I think I joined in December of 2021 or January of 2022. I found out that I was invited by Ren. Shoutout to Ren, hope you're doing well :3 On the topic of myself, I'm aroace-spec and genderqueer. Any/All, It/They preferred. A bit on the interests and personal side, I love to read, write, and discuss current issues. Basically an english class poster child, lol. I'm an anarchist, a furry, and major shipping trash. I participate in fandom quite a bit online. My time zone is CST, I'm usually on during my school hours (so various times from 8:15-3:30 my time). I'm not very active during weekends or holiday/break periods, but that can be subject to change. Small flexes include being an editor of my school's magazine, being a part of a (high school level) debate team, and being a manager of various scratch studios on the side, including the Aspec pillow fort. Please talk Ace Attorney to me, I love my funny little gay lawyers they are everything to me Why I think I would be a good manager! I would say I'm very easy to talk to and quite friendly. I'm good at taking control of drama and I'm always willing to listen to people who need assistance in something. As stated previously, I'm already in a couple "leadership" positions online and irl, so I have experience with managing groups of people at a time. I have a pretty decent group of what I would call friends on the hive, and I would say I'm pretty well-liked here. I'm also a bit older than most of the users, so I can be a bit more mature about certain things. I am also actively doing all I can to fix some of the problems that have been pointed out by various users- taking the "direct action" I preach so often in the discussion studios. Downsides It is most likely that I am undiagnosed with ADHD and Autism. Because of that, I may be hyper-sensitive or not sensitive enough to certain things. I either have too much empathy or far too little. While I can properly control drama, sometimes I'm too quick to jump into the lake- as in, I may panic when the drama is only minor and immediately start attempting to distract people with games and bandwagons. I struggle with regulating emotions, so I can sometimes come off as rude when I don't mean to be. If I don't like someone, I REALLY don't like them, and that can be an issue in some places. I also feel like I sometimes expect too much of people. That can be unfair, but I am unable to tell when my expectations may be too high, especially when large changes are being warranted. Unique things! Again, like previously mentioned, I have experience in management positions of medium to large groups of people. I would say I'm a pretty decent role model, especially to younger or newer users. My stance on some issues in the hive Exclusionism - All identity discourse should be banned. If you want to argue about labels, you can argue on each other's profiles. But not on the hive. This is a safe space for ALL. If someone's identity is genuinely harmful, we can discuss. Ignoring euphoria - Euphoria should never, ever be ignored. All it takes is just one person to give euphoria- so I would consider appointing some designated "euphoria givers" who can lurk every now and then and give euphoria to people who have requested it and gotten none. They could also make "if you need euphoria, reply with name and pronouns!" type of posts, and give it to people en masse. This is an worst-comes-to-worst scenario, as I would hope that we as a studio could come together and help each other more often out of the goodness of our hearts and not by being demanded to. Hostility towards newcomers - I would plead for people to continue to assume good faith, and ask that everyone answer any questions anyone has with sincerity and kindness, assuming ignorance vs. malice. I would also try and make it so that older users frequent the curator orientation studio to say hi to new people. In that case, all new people must be referred to curator orientation by default.
Transcript continued below! Improvements to the gaehive I always would strive to make the hive a better place by whatever means possible, so I would make firm pushes to make sure everyone is kind and following the rules. I would also make a major push to foster interaction and chatting between users, in order to make it feel like a community again. I would ensure accessibility for disabled hivians, including firmer enforcement of tw's and warnings. I would try my best to ensure the safety and contentment of users, and make the hive as user-friendly as possible. And, like I always say, whenever a problem is pointed out or brought to light by someone, I would promote taking "direct action"- as in, doing what I could as a manager (and asking users to do what they can) to fix the issue. Recognizing problems is the first part of change, and we've got that down! So now we have to do something about it. That's the second step in making things change, and that is exactly the agenda that I would promote as a manager. People I would recommend! quinn20064 - They are super cool and kind, with an interesting and unique perspective on many problems in the hive. They aren't afraid to be honest, even when it hurts. BetterKeepCalm - He is very nice and is very active, interacting with other users quite a bit to make them feel included. -Alador- - Very nice and making active pushes to improve the studio. wormbutch - It is kind to everyone and is really fun to be around. _-THEREALjevil_- - He is friendly but can be serious when need be. He has identified lots of problems within the hive and is trying to eliminate them. Homo-sec-shoe-whale - They are very blunt sometimes, in a good way. Giving people reminders of important things in a kind way, and they are very inclusive. I wrote more for this than I expected, so I'm sorry if some of it is hard to read! I hope my application is taken into consideration, and I wish luck to everyone who applies! Cheers to a more welcoming, kind, and fun gaehive! :3
