4. ----------------------------- "There it is." The gray wolf looked out over the shoal. He knew that this was the place that the spirit was looking for, and that this was where the lost powers rested. "I found it for you. Are you satisfied?" he asked the seemingly empty air next to him. "Satisfied? Why should I be satisfied?" rang out a deep, cackling voice. "I will never be satisfied. No. Not until the world trembles with every step I take, not until everyone falls before me, will I even consider thinking of being satisfied." The gray wolf paused, and wondered what had brought him into the service of such a greedy and uncontrolled being. He shook his head quickly, as if to clear it of these thoughts. The spirit controlled him now, and it would not do to have thoughts of what life would be like if he hadn't let the spirit into his mind. Now, his only hope was to bring power to the spirit, to crush the world under it's rule, so that no one was free. "I am capable of continuing without you. Leave." the spirit snapped at the gray wolf. They gray wolf looked startled for a moment; then a black film crept over his eyes, and he retreated into the forest. The spirit waited until it was sure the gray wolf had left, then drifted down over the cliff and onto the shoal. It eyed the ocean carefully, before slipping in without leaving a pawprint in the sand, or a ripple in the waves, to tell of its presence. Though it was unaware of one thing that it had left behind... ----------------------------- Pathfinder ran out of the hut, spinning excitedly in circles. She jumped around, back and forth, chasing butterflies, bits of sand blown on the breeze, and her own tail. Lumi watched her from the doorway of the hut, smiling. She never ceased to be amazed at how the pup cherished every waking moment. She remembered doing the same thing, when she was younger, but now that she was older, she didn't find as much meaning in small things. She wished she did. Out of the corner of her eye, Pathfinder caught a glimpse of something black glinting on the sand. She took a few steps towards it, curious as to what it was. It was a small, black, circular patch of sand, appearing to pulse with a dark glow. But before Pathfinder could call to Lumi and ask her to tell if it was dangerous or not, a wave reached up onto the shore and washed the patch of black sand away. ----------------------------- {next: coming soon!
☽ ✧ Trigger Warnings: Dark subjects such as control. All characters belong to me, so does this story. I'll elaborate on the spirit and how it controls wolves later, it's too long to put into this chapter and have it make sense. The thumbnail shows the place where the gray wolf looked over the shoal from. For the reference, this beach thing, which plays the part of Lumi's Shoal in this story, is located in Big Sur, California.
