OC (original character) A character that is completely made up by someone, without or with very minimal reference to other characters. WIP (work in progress) Self-explanatory. AMV (animated music video) An animation made frame by frame that follows a song and typically tells a story. PMV (picture music video) An animation that is not frame by frame, and instead is many pictures or characters gliding across the screen. Like an AMV, PMVs follow a song and usually tell a story. Meme/animated meme A short animation that loops on beat to a song or audio. Typically a meme is a head bop of a character, but it can also be other types of animations. Meme template A short animation that includes all the parts of the meme except for the center character. These are made for others to remix and add in their OCs. Memix A remix of a meme that does not change the song but does change certain components of the animation. DTA (draw to adopt): A competition where someone creates a character or design and others submit entries of that drawn in their own style. The creator of the best entry gets ownership of the character or design. DTAE (draw to adopt entry) An entry for a DTA. OTA (offer to adopt): This is similar to a DTA, but instead of remixing the project to submit entries, enterers leave the link of their payment/offer in the comments section of the project. Their payment does not have to be on Scratch. Ownership then goes to the payers or to the payer with the best payment. OTAP (offer to adopt payments) A payment for an OTA. This can also be called an OTAE (offer to adopt entry) or an OTAO (offer to adopt offer). MTA (meme to adopt) A competition where someone creates a character or design and others submit memes based around that. Sometimes the creator will also provide a meme template. The creator of the best entry gets ownership of the character or design. MTAE (meme to adopt entry) An entry for a MTA. MAP (multi-animator project) A song or audio is cut up into multiple parts. Animators can then submit animation entries for a part or for parts of the song. The MAP creator then selects the best entry for each part and edits them together so that the song flows and all of the selected animations are shown. MAPE (multi-animator project entry) An entry for a MAP part. Also called a MAPP (multi-animator project part) DTIYS (draw this in your style) A competition where someone presents their OC (or OCs) and other people draw the OC in their respective art styles. The creators of the best entries are awarded with prizes, such as artwork, follows, or likes. You can also sign up to be a prize giver for the winners. DTIYSE (draw this in your style entry) An entry for a DTIYSE. DMC (draw my character) The same thing as a DTIYS. DMCE (draw my character entry) An entry for a DMC. DMMC (draw my main character) The same thing as a DTIYS and a DMC but the OC being presented is the main OC of the creator. DMMCE (draw my main character entry) An entry for a DMMC. DMAC (design me a character) A project where someone asks other people to design characters for them, typically so that they can draw them in their style after the character is created. DMACE (design me a character entry) An entry for a DMAC. AT (art trade) A trade where two or more Scratchers create art for the other(s) and receive art back in return. DT (design trade) The same as an art trade but the art has more components. For example, if the art is a character, the creator will also include the traits, color palette, backstory, etc. of the character. MT (meme trade) A trade where two or more Scratchers animate memes for the other(s) and receive memes back in return. IT (icon trade) A trade where two or more Scratchers create icons (profile pictures) for each other. TN (thumbnail) The cover of a project; the icon of the project before you start the code. TNE (thumbnail entry) An entry for a thumbnail; a thumbnail that someone creates for someone else to use as the cover of their project. RP (roleplay) When somebody (this could be a Scratcher or an OC of a Scratcher) is performing/acting as a preexisting character. F4F (follow for follow) When two people follow each other, typically to gain more followers, but sometimes also to establish friendships. People usually ask for this on profiles or in a project's comment section. Thread A line of replies to a comment that reply to the previous reply instead of to the initial comment. NT (new thread) A thread that is started after one or multiple have been started. These threads are all separate conversations that started at the initial comment. ST (Scratch team) This is the group of people that moderate Scratch. They have an asterisk (*) by their usernames. Ban When a Scratcher is disabled from access of their account as punishment for breaking the community guidelines. Temp-ban A ban that is only in place for a set amount of time and isn't permanent.
Continued Perma-ban A ban that permanently disables a Scratcher from their account. IP ban A ban that disables all accounts under an IP address. This kind of ban is rare and is typically given to people avoiding their ban on one account by making another. Shadowban A ban that doesn't disable Scratchers from their accounts but instead blocks their content from certain areas of Scratch or just blocks their content from public view entirely. Shadowbans can be temporary or permanent. Hiatus A long break where a Scratcher is completely offline. Semi-hiatus A hiatus where a Scratch is mostly offline but occasionally online, or a short break. DA (DeviantArt) An platform for sharing art that is not related to Scratch but is often talked about and used by artists on Scratch. -- @creamibeani has the original project, I just added some more terms and reworded the definitions. Here's their project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/761078466 Comment other acronyms/terms if you can think of any. Also sorry that I never post good stuff. My brain hates life.
