if you're interested, i was listening to drive you home by jackson wang while i was thinking of ideas - hence the plot haha. for anyone who didn't understand the story: the mc is a guy who made a mistake which caused them to break up. the girl in the backseat is the "you" mentioned in the story (which can be inferenced indirectly), and basically he regrets what he did. music: someone like you - adele the actual, proper thumbnails are back lol- ...but the actual, proper descs aren't. im sorry but i used up all my braincells on the story you can't expect me to format the desc too why are my short stories always romance??
I stood on the sidewalk, rain splashing onto the toes of my shoes. Not that I cared. I looked heavenward, a silent question in my heart. Why? I pulled my wool jacket closer, but even that couldn't drive out the cold. It sunk to the depths of my bones, and misery crowded in on me from all sides. My dark, rain-slick hair hung limply in strands, but I did not reach up to sweep away the droplets of water that had cascaded onto my face. The street was familiar, all too familiar. But after last week, it felt strangely alien too. Like a past that I was never meant to revisit. A taxi drove past at lightning speed, sending puddles of water splashing to the side, drenching me even further. I did not move. It was travelling dangerously fast, careening down the wet road, but in the backseat, I caught a glimpse of someone that looked a lot like you. She laughed, caught in conversation with the driver as the car sped past me. A dizzying whirl of black, then gone. The way you laughed, that strand of golden, shimmery hair that always fell in your face when you talked - and oh, the way you talked. Now no one was there to sit beside you - because I'd been such a fool. Bolts of lightning crackled across the depressing, overcast sky, followed moments later by the unmistakable rumble of thunder. Dusk was fast approaching. The sun started to dip beneath the horizon, colouring the sky a deep, resonating orange. A rueful smile stretched my lips as I watched the taxi with you in it vanish out of sight, and my heart broke a little more. "Who's going to drive you home now?" I whispered softly. I turned around and walked in the opposite direction, leaving the past behind.
