Chapter 4 Themes: Mentions of gun violence Amelia's Perspective Was I going crazy? "I think I need psychiatric help," I said to Liam in the treehouse. He furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?" "Today, while I was being bullied, the bully mysteriously rose up in the air and fainted! That doesn't JUST HAPPEN," I replied. I don't know why I decided to trust Liam. Maybe it was because he was trying so hard. Or maybe because I felt bad for him. Either way, I knew he wasn't like the others. Liam paused, then tried to explain. "Maybe he was just trying to scare you. It was probably a prank." "Then how do you explain the mysterious voices I heard afterward? And why the bully's henchmen said something about being ghosted?" I argued. Liam swallowed, then tapped his fingers over his perfectly straight teeth. He was contemplating something. "What is it?" I sighed, placing my head in my hands. "Our school...is haunted." I thrust my head up. "WHAT!?!" "6 years ago, a man named Gill Marcus and his gang came to Wilbur Academy and...shot 36 people. 12 died, while the other 24 were injured. One of the killed, Sara Wilbur, still walks the halls of the school, waiting to get revenge." "Wait—Sara WILBUR!?" I said, putting emphasis on Wilbur. "She was the granddaughter of the founder of the school, Eli Wilbur," Liam explained. "That's why she stayed for revenge," I said softly, almost to myself. Then I thought of something else. "Why does she care about me?" "Because you're the new kid. You need a change of pace sometimes, am I right? Ghosts do, too, I guess," Liam smiled his sly grin and scooted closer to me. I actually smiled back. Author's note: Hey guys! The hiatus is officially over! Sorry about the wait, and I hope you enjoyed today's chapter! :)
