Chapter 1 I sat at my cold stone desk, shifting uncomfortably in my tiny plastic seat. On days like this, I would normally complain, but not today. For, today was the day that the research team aboard the Trinity space shuttle finally headed back for earth, with possibly life changing information. I got up, rushing over to the giant screens monitoring the shuttle as I clicked the tiny red switch to turn on the intercom. "Can everyone hear me?" I spoke into the microphone, testing the connection. "Yep, we just launched" two voices confirmed. I furrowed my brow "Wait, can we do a face count?" I replied, looking at the pixelated screen. I could barely see them with the bad connection from this far away, but I could only make out two people. Dr. Irvine and Dr. Allen looked around, and I saw Dr. Allen travel to the back "Charles?" I could make out him saying. He returned back with a worried look on his face "I haven't seen Dr. Carson in a while, I assumed he was just in the back but now he doesn't seem to be anywhere on the ship." I stood there not saying anything. This was one of the most important missions of all time, and something just has to go wrong. "Are you sure?" I repeated, practically knowing the answer already. Dr Irvine shook his head "I'm afraid not." I threw down my hands in frustration "When did you last see them?" I said gritting my teeth. Dr. Allen's expression turned grim "I'm afraid he was last seen on Elhiri." My mind went numb "I need to redirect the shuttle right away. There is only 12 hours of oxygen available on the spacesuit." I said, my expression stricken. This just changed from a research excavation to a rescue mission.
