THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MATURE TOPICS troy lee / subject 006 nile labs unweak i watched the boy who sat in the corner. even from where i stood, i could see him shaking. i couldnt tell where he was looking- but his eyes were right there. they’re such a strong blue- the type you could stare at for hours. still, he seemed small compared to the two much taller and stronger men that flanked him. mr. nile told me that people like that are called something. something i will never be. weak. mr. nile caught my gaze. “six. here.” he hadnt finished his words before i whipped my head back to look at him in the eyes. his cold, icy eyes. “word has reached me of a rebel.” he announced, carefully looking at all of us in the line, one by one. “tried escaping twice. gassing a helper and igniting a cell.” his eyes came to a halt. “nine, step forward.” a girl on the far end of our horizontal line took a small, cautious step forward. she had what looked like bruises on her arms, her head down. a helper from behind her pushed her forward and gripped her arm with a large, meaty hand, walking her over to mr. nile where they stood across from each other. “number nine,” he announced, clearing his throat to make his voice more audible. “do you admit to these crimes?” nine provided him no answer, keeping her head down. i guess she didnt want him to read her expression. mr. nile slapped her, a loud smack echoing amongst the walls. “WEAK.” when she still didnt raise her head, he grabbed her chin and quickly forced her to look up. “DO YOU ADMIT TO THESE CRIMES, NUMBER NINE?” mr. nile boomed, his thumb pressing into her chin. “y.. yes,” she responded weakly, dropping to the floor once he released her chin. mr. nile shook his head, stepping onto nine and pressing his foot into her stomach. “this,” he motioned to her with a hand, “is weakness. understand?” our line nodded in sync as if we were machines that were programmed to function simultaneously. “good. number two, come.” two joined the pair, fidgeting anxiously with his hands behind his back. mr. nile handed him a gIock, already off of safety. “eliminate her.” two blinked and looked up at mr. nile. “what, sir?” “do it.” “mr. nile, i cant sh-” nile shook his head. “six, come. i know you wont disappoint me.” i could feel my stomach tighten. reluctantly, i obeyed, making swift strides over to him, keeping my face perfectly emotionless. nile ripped the gvn out of two’s hand and offered it to me. as i took it, mr. nile gave me a small nod. without hesitation, i turned and squeezed the trigger twice, followed by a /PAK! PAK!/ and a brief moment of flashing lights. i watched two and nine collapse to the ground, bIood pooling out of their lifeless bodies. none of my companions physically flinched at the sounds, but they didnt dare look at the bodies. i was curious to see the reaction of the boy in the corner, but in my current position, i couldnt spot him. how he did contributed to this place? he wasnt one of us, i dont think. i shifted my attention back to the two corpses before me. the pool of bIood expanded outward now. “excellent, number six,” nile said, placing a firm hand on my shoulder. “you’ve done well today. im proud.”
