I have updates on the Abandoned book, both good and bad. Starting with the good, I finalized some modifications to the original. The biggest change is the prologue, which showcases the events that caused the series. Next is the swapping of certain scenes to make the story flow better. Flail's chapters were moved to the epilogue to connect to the next installment. Yes, Abandoned is going to be a trilogy. I know! I know! Trilogies are overdone, but Abandoned has too big of story for one book. The first book follows Astra's abandonment to her adventure to save Primrose. The second book involves the Pine Pack, and the third... is still unknown. Astra's getting a personality rework (I challenge you to list her personality traits in the series. I can't think of any), as are any other characters who might be too bland. Sheep's chapter may or may not be cut or edited to a different POV. Like Flail's, it comes out of nowhere, and we don't hear from him for a while. Also, this isn't related to the book, but I'm almost done with Chapter 19. It should release sometime this month.
Due to space, the bad news goes here. If I'm going to publish Abandoned, I have to cut and modify characters so it doesn't cause controversy. Or at least less controversy. People are going to speak up no matter what I do. Books are expensive to publish. A quick search says books can cost between 500-5000 to publish. That's VERY expensive. So if I publish a book for, say, 2000, and only earn 1000 back, it would've been better not to publish it, would it not? It's a clear dud and no one reads it. Now, add in the controversial topic of LGBT, and suddenly those sales drop to 700. Or 800. What I'm trying to say is that people are less likely to enjoy something in which Astra and Dusk are mates, or Primrose is non-binary, than if they weren't mates, or Primrose was female. If I make the book, those are the changes I'll have to make as a precaution. That, and countries in which LGBT content is banned can sell my book. Not that I'm supporting them, but I really want to publish this and not go bankrupt. What I need to know is this: will you still read the book if I make these changes? I really wish I didn't have to change this, but playing it safe is better than risking and losing. If most users say no, then I won't publish it. But if you're fine with this, I'll go ahead. Remember, nothing big is being changed. If anything, it's changes to improve the story, flow, and characters. The relationships and pronouns might get changed, but it won't effect the story that bad. The decision is yours.
