I woke up to the sunrise hitting the windshield, Emily was in the driver’s seat, driving the jeep. She looked really tired, with bags under her heavy eyes. I stretched saying, “Good morning.” She glanced over, and gave a yawn, “Good morning. Welcome to Utah, we passed the state line last night. How did you sleep?” She asked. “I slept pretty well, have you been driving all night?” “Yeah, you fell asleep a bit early, so I thought we should keep going.” “How about I take over, you look tired.” She nodded, pulling over to the side. I took over driving, and Emily fell asleep almost straight away. We went on for a few hours, stopping once for gas. In the late morning, I spotted a large RV driving the opposite way of me, I thought nothing of it until he slowed down, and beeped his horn twice. I was majorly confused, so I ignored it at first, and just passed him. Then I heard tire screeching, so I checked my rearview mirror, and he made a u-turn, following me. He was still beeping, so I slowed down, and pulled over, locking the door, just in case. The RV pulled over behind me, and I heard it’s door open, keeping an eye on the mirror. I saw a man with white hair come out. “Don’t be alarmed Felix.” I heard the man say. I was shocked, I know that voice, and regret filled inside me. It was Peter Miller, the man who took me as a baby, and the man we stole the Deoxium back from. I got out of the car, and walked up to him, “What are you doing?” I asked him “I was going to the F.E.L. Lab, to try to break you out again, but I guess I was a bit too late.” He chuckled. “How do you know we’re escaping?” “Well, I know Stern, and he’d never let you two be alone this far away from the lab, so I put two and two together.” “Yeah, I’m going home, and bringing Emily with me.” “Well, I guess I should go home too, since you seem to have it covered.” He sighed, heading to the RV. “Yeah.” I said, going back to the Jeep. He started his engine, and drove up to the side of the Jeep. He called out through his window, “Do you guys want to ride with me, I have a trailer hook in the back for the Jeep, if you want, and this RV has multiple beds.” I thought for a little, a bed sounds way better than a tent, and he does seem trustworthy. I looked at Emily, she was snoring pretty loudly, but even though she’s asleep, she seemed to not care. “That’s very generous, are you sure you want us to ride, after what happened?” I asked. “Of course! You were only doing what Stern told you to do, I won’t hold it against you.” He smiled. I accepted his offer, and woke Emily up, she was still super tired, and didn’t seem to notice what was happening, I helped her to a bed inside the RV, and joined Peter in hooking the Jeep to the back. We both went to the front, and we started back on the road. We talked for a long while, he seemed to have lots of questions about the me. “So, you can’t see screens?” He asked. “Nope, they look kind of blue, and staticky.” I explained. “Fascinating, have you tried projectors?” “What’s a projector?” “We’ll, it’s like a screen, but it is projected to a wall, you might be able to see that.” I put my hand to my chin, “I’ll try that when I get home.” “I can help set it up.” “Great.” I smiled. We had an awkward pause between us, and I realized something. “You worked with Dr. Stern a lot, what do you know about him?” I asked. He gave a sigh, saying, “I knew him well, we grew up as friends, both having a love for biology. We even graduated college together as doctors of Biological research. Years later, we got a call about starting an experiment with DNA. We thought, ‘This was our chance!’ and agreed to join with no hesitation.” He had a sad tone. Peter explained how he and Stern did a lot of research on DNA and other science stuff. I spaced out a bit by the time he was finished. I snapped back into focus when he called my name. “What happened to make Stern act like he is?” I asked, to hide the fact that I blanked out. He gave me a look, and continued his story. “After a few failed attempts, you were our first success, shortly followed by Emily, we had to give you some injections in order to keep you alive. After a few months, I realized, we just made children, who has no family of their own. I also realized that they shouldn’t have a life in a lab, they need to grow with people who’ll care. I tried multiple times to get them to agree for me to take you into my wife and I’s house, but they declined my offer. Stern was no help either, he called me crazy for thinking you and Emily will be able to have a life like that. So instead, I took you with me, along with the Deoxium, so they'll never make more hybrids. I wanted to take Emily too, but I had no time. I brought you far away, where I hope they wouldn’t find you, and I dropped you off at the Johnson’s house, knowing they would take you in. I knew them, so I thought it was a good idea, and was very glad they took you in.” (Continued below)

Continued story: He then explained how he left no trace of where he was going, and Stern got really cautious about losing Emily. Then he also explained how he kept an eye on me sometimes, which I thought was a bit creepy. Suddenly, I heard some yawning in the back, along with a little creaking. "Felix?" I heard Emily call, then I unbuckled my seatbelt, and went to her. She still looked a bit tired, but was sitting up on the bed. "Where are we?" She asked with a second yawn. I explained to her about Peter, and all the stuff he told me about, trying to leave nothing out. By the end of it, she was wide eyed. "So we're in a RV with a man we barely know, driving to Oregon?" She summed up. I nodded. "Remind me never to sleep unless you are, got it?" She said as a slight joke. "Because you can't just decide on these things without me." I shrugged, saying "Well, you weren't there to help, and I trust Pete." "Don't be too quick to trust people, you should know that." "Yeah, but how about you come meet him and see?" She reluctantly got up, and came with me to the front. "Hey, what was up back there?" Peter asked as I came up. "Emily woke up, she's here to say hi." I told him. Emily came up, and sat on one of the chairs behind him. "Hey, it's nice to meet you." She said. Peter only glanced back a little, "Hey, how did you sleep?" He asked. "I slept well, how long was I out?" "About 6 hours-" I told her "We're in Nevada now, which means only one state away." Peter said with a smile. (End) Writer's note: Sorry for the wait guys! Nothing about Stern. >:) They're getting close!
