I recently got three new foals, each one about a few weeks old. Fleck, Flicker, and Flame. Bios: Fleck Fleck of Cocoa Filly/Mare Appaloosa 3 weeks old Flicker Flicker of the Candle Filly/Mare Lipizzaner 3 weeks old Flame Raging Fire Colt/Stallion Arabian 3 weeks old How Training Went: We started off with letting the foals sniff the halters, and get comfortable with them. Flicker was scared of it at first, but she soon got over her fear (with the help of a few treats :). We went outside to the paddocks, because the foals have more freedom there, and we slowly put the halters on. Flame immediately started trying to rub his head on the fence, evidently trying to get the halter off. Fleck and Flicker had a more positive reaction though, but still trying to shake it off. We left the halter on for 10 minutes, took it off for the same amount of time, respecting for about an hour or two. We took the halters off, and led them to play in the paddock with the supervision of Parch, mother of my young stallion Tiger. When the end of that day was over, we groomed the foals and Patch, and brought them back to their stalls. Training Results: Positive or Negative: Fleck: Postive-ish Flicker: Positive-ish Flame: Negative Progress Made: Fleck: Some, probably won’t struggle as much when we try the training tomorrow Flicker: Some, probably won’t struggle at all when we put it on tomorrow Flame: Hardly any, will probably struggle while the halter goes on tomorrow Final Rating (out of 5): Fleck: 3.5 Flicker: 4 Flame: 0.5 CHECK BACK FOR MORE!!!
