yall literally explain to me how i won a writing contest at my school. my essay was so bad too. i just did it for the extra points my english teacher was giving out if we did it too lol imma put it in the notes and credits, and you've been warned. it is not good (there was literally no prompt, it just had to be a certain number of characters or smth and it was an essay for the veterans, cuz it was for veteran's day in america)
“My Pledge to Our Veterans” There are roughly 18 million veterans in the United States today. Most of these veterans go without recognition. Around a million of those veterans served in a foreign war. They are essential, and we should honor them. Maybe you know a veteran in your life. It could be a friend, parent, sibling, or grandparent. Have you ever taken the time to thank them for their service? Veterans risked their lives for our country. They went to war on a dangerous battlefield to protect what values most to Americans: freedom. Putting themselves in harm's way, so that future generations would grow up safe. This veteran in your life could have died, and maybe did, for you. We may have parades and memorials for them, but that’s only a few days out of the year. Just think about all the times veterans go unthanked and unrecognized. If you see a veteran, make sure to thank them for their service to our country. It wouldn’t be the same without them. Without veterans, America would not be America. They went to war and nobly fought. This took a lot of courage. My grandfather was in the army in the Vietnam War. He put his life at risk for this nation. He served our country and I respect and honor him. I thank him for his service every chance that I get. He is glad for the recognition and other veterans would be too. My pledge to our veterans is to not forget them. Remember the service they did for us. Thank them and honor them. Do more for them than Veteran’s Day once a year. Listen to their stories. Honor the fallen graves. Most importantly, pass down their legacies to the next generations.
