She was only a couple weeks old, and was left alone in the dark. She heard water dripping down from the stony ceiling of the cave. And she saw moving shadows in the faint light. She hurriedly stumbled up to it. Silence. Drip-pause-drop. The shadows were gone. They had vanished. She stopped in her tracks, mussels tensing. ''Mother?'' she asked the darkness again. WWSSHHHHHHHHHH. A figure whizzed past her. ''Hello?'' she took a couple steps forward. ''Huh?'' she had walked into a crimson red pool of salty-smelling liquid. She tried to shake it off herself, but it had soaked her, staining her chest fur and paws red. When she looked up, she saw a crack of light through a doorway. ''Mother,'' Petals called again. She opened the door a twinge more, and saw her mother's dead body in a pool of blood. She let out a horrified gasp, and ran to her mother's limp lifeless body, and cried into her mother's filthy pelt. GASP. Peony instantly woke up with a shock. She looked down at herself and let out a sigh of relief. She remembered her secret she kept hidden from everyone in her entire life. ''I'm not Petals anymore; I'm Peony,'' she whispered to herself. ''I have to do this alone...'' she felt herself hesitate. ''And trust nobody.'' She then got out of her make-shift bed, and acted like nothing had ever happened,-just like she did everyday.
