Uhh I'm pretty sure I missed last week like a fooL i'm sorry-- also i forgot how to fuji All my classes have somewhat of a routine now. English—put one headphone in, pull out my laptop and try to ignore the kids around me. Science—put both headphones in and listen to muffled lectures of things I, painstakingly, knew already. Math—pull out my workbook and say something stupid and joking to Rowan, who normally makes a beeline for his seat next to me and tries to ignore the stares of other people. But this time, he didn’t come straight to his desk. At a minute to the bell I glanced over at the door, a brow raised, only slightly worried about his absence before I spotted him near the back of the room, talking to someone. Specifically Warren. I felt myself smile. Rowan seemed a bit nervous—I could tell in the way he held himself, his feet shifting as he spoke. But he was holding up well, and I was happy for him. The bell rang and the two came to their seats, Warren on the other side of the room and Rowan right next to me. He let out a tensed sigh as he sat down, hanging his bag on the chair and pulling out his own textbook. When he saw me looking at him, his eyes widened and his cheeks went red. “It—was nothing. We just bumped into each other, is all.” “Nothing?” I smiled and leaned back in my seat, and Rowan’s lips pursed as he glanced over at the room—towards Warren. They must’ve met eyes, because almost immediately after he covered his face with his hand and slumped over his desk. I gave a small chuckle and twirled my pencil in my hand. Our teacher stood up to the front of the room to continue last class’s lecture, which caused Rowan’s voice to drop to a whisper. “It really was nothing. I just introduced myself really awkwardly and made some joke. I doubt he was even amused.” “Rowan, he was smiling and you know it.” Rowan’s face heated up further. “It… was probably nothing. Just nothing.”
