Name: Kalanchoe (Kalan) Backstory (takes place in wof universe, 100 years or so after Darkstalker disappeared) (WARNING DEATH/SENSITIVE SUBJECTS) Kalan was a normal SandWing, best friends with an animus NightWing named Blacklight. Kalan was aware of Blacklight losing his soul, but still he did his best to appreciate and help Blacklight beyond his demons. Only one thing stood between them: a beautiful great-great-granddaughter of Whiteout named Moonstone. Both Kalan and Blacklight loved Moonstone, and Blacklight wanted to make sure she chose himself over his best friend. Kalan was of course horrified at the idea of using magic to manipulate love, so he offered a promise. Kalan would not go after Moonstone, ever. In return, Blacklight promised not to use his magic on the love of his life. Everything was normal again… until the conversation that would change Kalan’s life forever. … Kalan swooped down to the stone hollow, their meeting place hidden in the rubble of Agate Mountain. “Blacklight!” he called when he saw the dark figure in the shadow of a boulder. “Kalan… we need to talk.” Black light stepped forward in the ominous way he often did. Kalan still wasn’t sure if it was a joke or not, the way he was intentionally creepy and looming. “Yeah, I haven’t seen you in over a week! What’s that about?” Kalan said it in a cheerful tone, but he really was worried. Being friends with a half-evil magic murderer was never easy. He realized with a start that Blacklight was glowering at him with more intensity than normal. “Do you remember Moonstone? You promised me you wouldn’t go after her. You gave me your word, which I know now is as brittle as sandstone.” Kalan drew in a breath. Blacklight was good with similes. Had he broken a promise without realizing it? He hadn’t even seen Moonstone in the last month. “What? I did leave her to you. I-“ His snout clamped shut with Blacklight’s whispered magic. “No. I saw her this morning, on her way to find you. I cast a spell to know her intentions, and she was going to propose marriage. You must have done something. You broke your word to me, and so my promise is now void.” Blacklight held up a large blood-colored ruby, with a miniature Moonstone trapped inside. “Now she is all mine, and no one else can have her. All I have to do now is punish you.” Listen to yourself, Kalan wanted to yell. Moonstone chose me and I didn’t even have to do anything. Didn’t that give some indication of what you’ve become? But of course Kalan couldn’t say anything. Blacklight grabbed a rock off the ground and studied it for a moment. “When this stone is crushed, Kalanchoe the SandWing will start crumbling away into sand, and slowly die over the course of one year.” As Blacklight smashed the rock on the ground, Kalan silently screamed as his scales turned to sandstone, unable to make a sound. He flew away with silent tears on his face, not looking back. He only had one year now. His only hope was to find a way to make Blacklight, his best friend, his enemy, forgive him.
Oh my goodness that backstory- That literally took like an hour
