turrets, old warhead, prototype medkit The "Praetorian" Automated Defense System manufactured by Cascade Technologies (famous for the .480 Modular Combat Shotgun and Raven .50 cal heavy pistol) is one of the most popular automated weapons platforms, often referred to as a "sentry gun," capable of automatically aiming and firing on targets. The Praetorian uses an IFF (Identify Friend or Foe) transponder, a FLIR thermal camera and an AI database of thermal signatures generated by humans. The Praetorian first identifies a thermal signature, compares it with an image cache of targets, and interrogates the signature using it's IFF transponder. If it does not detect a IFF signature, it automatically provides 5 seconds for the intruder to leave the premises before automatically aiming and opening fire. Some of the Praetorian's weaknesses include a separate processing computer, which is susceptible to being damaged/disabled, disabling the gun platform. Alternately, there are risks of the weapons system being hacked and reprogrammed, but despite these risks, the Praetorian still remains the #1 intelligent area denial product for use in high security areas. The Praetorian has been installed at most Black Mesa sites, and many BOB TECH sites, and can be bought from the Cascade Technologies website, although purchase and owning is only available for corporate entities.
