Hey guys! Ok, ok. Before we get started on the slightly wordy explanation, know this. I love Spark's old design, and I hope you did too, but I came up with this whole idea almost a year ago. As I slowly start rebooting the comic, many characters will have to have redesigns. Don't worry, though! The personalities you know and love will stay the same. Now, to explain why I had to change it. Her old design was not genetically possible. Her father was orange, and her mother was a brown tabby. Since a female kitten has to have both parents be orange to be orange herself, that was impossible. But! I did my research, and if a female kitten has an orange father and a calico or tortoiseshell mother, she can be an orange calico. Plus, a year ago, I made super super basic character designs. This redesign lets me play around with incorporating more details into my characters. It still suits her name, and I find her design to be quite pretty now, whereas her old one was a bit boring and generic. I didn't do a fullbody, just some quick bitmap art to get an idea of what she looks like now, but she has a white chest and underbelly, white paws, and a black-and-orange mottling on her legs. Most of her upper body is black, with some orange markings like the one present on her back and tail there. I think that covers it all! Please let me know if you have any questions, or you can read the Q&A below to see if your query has already been answered. Q&A: Q. Are you going to redesign any more characters? A. Yes! Willow will be getting a redesign. I didn't really like her old design, and I kept having to make modifications. By the time I got it to where I could draw it consistently, it was super bland and unappealing. I've meaning to redesign her for some time, but now is perfect to go ahead and do it. She'll be a tortie now. Q. What about Splash? A. That depends. I need to do more research into cat genetics before I can answer that. But don't worry! Even if I do have to redesign her, she'll hopefully still be recognizable as the Splash we know and love. A2. No! Because of the dilute gene, as long as her mother has black coloring in her fur, she can still be a blue. Q. You won't change Trout, right? A. Absolutely not! Well, not his design, anyway. I'm making some modifications to his personality. I found that over the chapters, his personality kinda got lost and turned into something that was a bit goofier than I'd intended. There's nothing wrong with goofy characters, it just wasn't quite what I had originally envisioned for him. He'll be more like the first couple of chapters and less like the later ones. Q. When is the reboot coming out? A. I'm not sure. It might be soon, but don't get your hopes up. I have to do a lot of worldbuilding and plot before I get anywhere close to a beginning. Q. What happened to the cameos? A. When I abandoned the original Splash chapters, I didn't have anything I could do with the cameos. Now that it's being rebooted, they will be included! They probably won't appear until later chapters, but there could be exceptions. Q. Can I make a cameo? A. I'll make a new cameo project, complete with free-to-use bases and information about the world of Splash. Right now, I would prefer if you didn't, as I'm too busy with other things to go over cameos and try to fit them in the plot right now. Once the plot and world are stabilized, I'll be able to insert cameos again. Q. Why did you spend more time and effort on the Q&A section than the actual explanation? A. Pfft who knows-
