1. What’s your favorite toph character and why? Houndpaw. Houndpaw is an idea no one's really done before (though seen in the main series, no dog truly joins a clan). Houndpaw has fun to read interactions with WindClan and a decent backstory. 2. What’s your least favorite toph character and why? Dovestrike. She's overused by the community and in chapters. Why does she get two chapters to a date (I'm assuming 2. I haven't read 71) in a relationship that has no hints of going wrong? If Dovestrike dies, then I can be a little less harsh. That would make things more exciting. But I don't think that's going to happen (since when do favorite characters die?) so her chapter feels forced. Yes, it's been hinted at, but Dovestrike seems to have plenty of focus put on her for no other reason than "She's in a lesbian relationship with Moonfall". That's pretty much all people like her for and all I see in her character (in fact, her confessing comes a bit out of nowhere). 3. What’s your favorite toph chapter and why? Anything Houndpaw. I don't remember many chapters. Once again, Houndpaw is a fresh and inventive idea. 4. What’s your least favorite toph chapter and why? Chapter 70. First, it breaks the art style (as far as I know, non-dark forest and StarClan places are detailed, but the real world has monochrome backgrounds. The friend group can be an exception since it's a special location). Dovestrike and Moonfall prance around some nature places and go for a splash. Why put in the effort, other than 1. It's your favorite shipping, and 2. It makes good PFPs? Second, why give it to these two? I stated it before, but you're giving a date to two characters who are unlikely to die. I would understand one chapter, but then there's a second... why? No other ship has this much focus. It's like, uh, I dunno, Warriors but they entire book about two characters who were mentioned in the last book in passing? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened... but still! Why these two? They're just two happy, nothing-can-go-wrong lovers with no conflict what-so-ever! Imagine the story potential in HoundWing (Houndpaw x Monarchwing). They hide their love at first, but then they go on a date and the clan finds out, so now they're treated worse because it seems wrong to them! It's OOZING with story! And finally, why focus on these two as characters instead of Perfectpaw? The protagonist? I tell you really like them, so why not cancel ToPH and make a new comic about them? I'll hate it, but I'll respect your choice to not force the story in directions it was never meant to go. 5. What would you like to see more of in future chapters? Houndpaw. HoundWing. Please. It's not that I'm a crazy shipping fan, but I really want this comic to reach its full potential. 6. What would you like to see less of in future chapters? DoveMoon. I know, I'm disobeying my username, but that's part of the funny :P. I don't think I need to explain why. 7. Which character do you think is underrated and why? I... don't know. Can I answer with Houndpaw again and move on? 8. Which character do you think is overrated and why? ...I don't think I need to answer this. You already know... 9. Does Ranboo experimenting with art style impact your viewing experience in any way? It depends. Character designs I'm fine with, so long as they aren't oversimplified and lose the original's impact (looking at you, chibi designs). Backgrounds I'd rather you stick to monochrome unless it's in a special location (NOT including dates), but colorful and detailed in other locations. But if the background and characters are all squishy and wobbly, it seems lazy and problematic, like an artist with dementia trying to paint a banana in the colors of an orange and the shape of a watermelon. I don't even know what that comparison means but I'm going with it. 10. What’s your overall opinion on toph? It's... okay. I dropped out when the point of view swapped more than a Cornelia Funke novel. The original chapters are some of the best and original work I've seen in Scratch comics (aside from maybe wolfburrito95's Water Wolves). Perfectpaw and Dave's interactions are fun to read and watching Perfectpaw learn is always enjoyable. Houndpaw's scenes are great as well. They're basic, but you don't need to be complex. However, as time progressed, the story darkened. It should never have darkened. Being edgy is not an alternative to a good story and characters. I don't know what the plot is, or who I should focus on, or who I should care about. It seems when I'm getting settled into a new point of view, the characters swap and storylines are introduced, and I'm ripped out of a good time. To use my example of Water Wolves, the current direction of ToPH is like Splash being recruited into a cult or something, and being controlled by corrupt higher-ups. No matter what, it would feel out-of-place and clash with the simple artstyle.
11. Anything else to add? No, not really. I enjoy the ideas you gave to this series, and the spark of life that it shined onto many others, but the flaws are more and more visible. It bubbles to the surface with each chapter, popping its problems into a sticky goop. Sometimes, dark and edgy stories are best left for another time. We can wait until another comic to see what the dark forest and StarClan are up to. We can cut out the bloated inclusion of the deities, DoveMoon, all the POVs minus Perfectpaw's and maybe Houndpaw's. These 180 chapters feel like too much was crammed into too little room. It feels like a true Warriors book: All the POVs rip me out of the story, to the point where I wait for my preferred character's chapter to arrive. Thank you if you read all this. I hope I got my points across so something can change. I'm becoming a published writer myself, so I have an eye for flaws (and the curse of knowing when to use their, they're, and there). I'm open to clarifying anything that you comment. I really want to see this comic succeed. Good luck ^^
