This project is a Native American home life scene. The Native Americans lived in wigwams and longhouses. Wigwams are small rounded domes and can fit one family. Longhouses are long, tall houses that can fit up to 60 people! They both have campfires (for warmth) in the middle, with holes in the ceiling so the smoke could escape. The beds were in the sides. Some houses also had dreamcatchers in them. They believed that the dreamcatcher would protect them from bad dreams and nightmares. Longhouses also had a little room for storage. In this project, you can see a couple of people playing stickball (now called lacrosse.) One game could last days and many people played it, from one hundred to a thousand people at a time! Also, there was a girl carrying food and crops to a longhouse for storage. They will store the food for the winter. At the end of the project, you can see a man telling a story to the kids. When the kids grow up, they will tell the same stories to the next generations.
