"Hurry up Tern" Giggled Slush. "I'm Hurrying" Tern exclaimed. Both came to a hard stop in front of their teacher Icecap. "You both are late... again." Icecap remarked "Sorry Icecap." Slush and Tern Sneered Icecap rolled their eyes, "Alright," They called looking at the row of young icewings, "Today we will be testing your hunting, go and catch as much as you can, come back when I call you back, not anytime sooner, and if you get a little scrape deal with it." Tern hated how rude Icecap was but had to obey to get to first circle, they were so close to second so what could stop them. "Tern, I know a good place to go to, follow me." Slush would say holding the hawk they just caught, Tern had an average sized trout. Slush would dive and Tern would follow, both landing next to one of the mountains. "It looks kind of empty." Tern said. "There should be all sorts of stuff to hunt here, I wonder- look a seal." Slush would say excitedly. "Wait! It's dead, someone already caught it, let's not take it." "Aw okay." "There might be something in that cave." "I don't know, it's kind of scary." "I got this" Tern would say with some uneasiness. Tern walked to the mouth of the cave and looked back at Slush. Tern gave a toothy grin, Slush opened her mouth to speak, but that expression turned to fear quickly. "What's wrong?" Tern asked. Not to long after Tern was tossed into the air, they felt a sharp pain in the back of their head. They only caught a glance, a large polar bear was shaking them by the horn like a ragdoll, Tern could hear and feel where their horn was breaking from, it was gone by the time Slush lunged at the bear, still in pain Tern would use frost breath on the bear, only hitting it's side so they wouldn't hit Slush, the bear would grab Tern again, this time by the base of their neck. Slush would free Tern again but the bear would see Slush as its new target. While the two were fighting Tern made a call for help, some of the other kids and Icecap followed where Terns voice was. For Tern it all went black. When they woke back up, there was no horn, but most importantly Slush wasn't in the medical center either, Slush was gone and Tern would be alone in training.
