Chapter 2 Timber woke up and opened her eyes. She was in a dark room, with no way of finding her friends. She sat up a bit and tried to see around her. Eventually her eyes adjusted and she saw something in a corner. Timber knew it was risky, but she crawled over to it, to figure out who it was. “Hello?” she whispered. She got ready incase she had to run. “What?” Weyv snapped. “Well at least I have someone.” Timber replied rudely. “Go look for Clinda.” Weyv grumbled. “Humph. Fine.” Timber searched some more and found someone else. “Clinda?” She whispered. “I was hoping for someone other than you.” Clinda replied crossly. Timber slapped her across her face. “Ow! What’d you do that for!” Clinda yelled. “SHHH!” they heard Weyv whisper-yell. “It’s your fault if we’re killed!” After what seemed like forever, they had the whole group together. They found out they were no long being kept from using their powers, so Weyv lit up the room. “Alright. We have to find a way out of this place. Search the area for any doors.” Timber said. Another 10 minutes went by and they heard Dan shout, “I found a door!” Timber, Weyv, and Clinda hurried over. “Think we should open it?” questioned Clinda. “It’s worth a shot.” replied Dan, and cautiously opened it. The hallway was lit, so they stepped out into it. “Come on,” Weyv said. “we should get going.” They all shared a glance and took off running, with Clinda and Dan in the lead. Timber and Weyv were listening for footsteps while following. Suddenly, Timber felt her stomach drop as she fell into darkness. She let out a small yelp as she fell. Timber knew she wasn’t unconscious, because she could feel the wind pushing her hair back. She saw a little flash of light, which lit up the face of Weyv. “Do you think you could make us a softer landing by pushing us up with a little wind?” Timber called over. She didn’t get a response, but her descent was slowed by a small gust of wind. “Thanks.” she said. This time the light stayed instead of going out. She now saw Weyv’s hair better, which covered his forehead. “Any idea what happened?” Weyv asked after a moment of silence. “I’m guessing the floor dropped under us on purpose.” Timber guessed. They were silent for a few more minutes, then Timber exclaimed, “Get ready. I can see the end of our flight.” They both tried to get ready for a nice landing on their feet. It was a bit clumsy, but they survived. “Now to get out.” muttered Weyv. He put out the small light, seeing how the room was lit. They surveyed the room and walked a bit. Not even a few seconds after they turned to meet up again, they were tackled to the ground by surprise. “AGAIN?!” Weyv yelled. Timber looked around, and slowly pulled her knee closer to her. She delivered a sudden kick to the person holding her down and got out from under. She saw out of the corner of her eye as Weyv caused his captor to jump back and shout. He quickly got up and got ready for any additional attacks. Alone, their powers were almost useless. So they would have to play it by hand. What took them by surprise was when someone else dragged them down from behind and tied them up so they couldn’t get up. He made sure to do the same to their feet, so they couldn’t kick. Timber muttered something under her breath and Weyv said something unintelligible. The person who’d tied them down shouted something and another person came in with Dan. “Dan! What are you doing here?” Timber cried. “They caught us. Me and Clin. Clinda was able to get away, but I wasn’t.” Dan explained. They tied Dan down, too and then put something on each of their wrists. “Not these things again.” Dan mumbled. Except when he lit his hand, it worked. But he wasn’t able to keep it from leaping out at Timber. Timber screamed as the flames touched her cheek. Weyv quickly doused out the flame, but went a little overboard on the water, soaking him and Dan. “I was able to keep it from doing that before…” muttered Dan. Timber turned pale. “Guys,” she said. “our powers are malfunctioning.”
