Kathlyn Star, the most beautiful girl in the high school. She had long, beautiful, black hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. She had expensive clothing that she wore, she had long and thick eyelashes, dainty fake pink nails with red sparkles, she was captain of the dance team and millions of followers on social media, mostly because of her YouTube account. Darla Track, wasn’t popular, she had blonde hair with brown eyes, broken looking nails, calloused hands, she wore the clothing that was affordable. Darla was once Kathlyns best friend, until Kathlyn released her song, and started hanging out with some idiotic boy named Jason Crew, she broke up with him and started dating Jonathon Raid, he was the most popular boy in the school, he was a football player for the school, he had red hair, green eyes, he wore “cool” clothing and had an athletic build. Darla watched the crowd of people surrounding the poster. The school was hosting a party tonight, similar to prom except, it was a funeral. Darla bit her lip. Principle Jone had died. He had been a kind man, and worked hard. They had gotten a new principle, Principle Dale. Darla slung open her locker. She felt footsteps coming closer, heels. She turned around. Kathlyn, standing right there. “What do you want?” Darla asked in annoyance. “I’m sorry.” Kathlyn said. Darla rolled her eyes, every time she spoke with Kathlyn, there was the word “sorry” Darla had gotten angry with Kathlyn’s ex boyfriend, Sam. He had hit Kathlyn and Darla took Kathlyn’s side but Kathlyn yelled at her and blamed her. “Sorry ain’t gonna do anything!” Darla snapped. Darla could see Kathlyn biting her lip. Darla felt Kathlyn’s deep blue eyes giving her the death stare in which she didn’t acknowledge. “You shouldn’t have came in the argument like that!” Kathlyn hissed in anger. “I was defending you!” Darla snarled, stomping her sneaker on the floor. Kathlyn rolled her eyes and walked off to her locker, which was decorated on the inside with pictures of her and Jonathon, a cute dainty mirror, and a few posters of beautiful models. Darla described Kathlyn as cold-hearted. Or a beast in disguise. Lunchtime. Darla drank her protein drink, it was red and tasted sweet like cherry. She bit into her ham and mustard sandwich. She walked over to the trash can, her drink in her hands. She was gonna empty it out when suddenly she bumped into Kathlyn. Her drink spilt all over Kathlyn’s blue jeans and white sparkly shirt. Tears rolled down Kathlyn’s cheeks and her face went red. Darla for once felt bad for Kathlyn. “I-I’m sorry.” She said, it felt strange to say that to Kathlyn, and even stranger to feel bad for Kathlyn. Kathlyn didn’t say anything. For a moment, they looked in each others eyes, not in anger but in sadness. Kathlyn’s mascara slightly got messy, she grabbed a napkin and wiped her face. “What’s going on?” Jonathon yelled. Darla approved of Jonathon. He was kind, smart, and loyal to Kathlyn. “I accidentally spilt my drink.” Darla said, she felt her tongue slip at the word “accidentally” was it really an accident? Or did she just enjoy making Kathlyn cry. “Yeah, an accident.” Kathlyn hissed, sadness turning to anger. Darla didn’t know what to do. A crowd was surrounding them. Darla couldn’t do it. She balled up her fist. She wasn’t sure what she thought she was gonna do but before her fist was swinging directly at Kathlyn but before it hit Kathlyn, she felt her fist stop. Jonathon had grabbed her wrist. She took her hand back she left her gray there and stomped off. Before the party. Darla sat in her room. She was looking threw all her yearbooks. She was wearing a blue dress to the party and black flats. She looked threw her jewelry box. She found her finger pressing against a necklace. She slowly pulled it out. Her friendship necklace with Kathlyn. A tear slowly dropped onto her nightstand. She remembered her memories with Kathlyn…ever since they were three. Something hit her. Principle Jone had been Kathlyn’s older brother by ten years! She regretted everything that had happened at school. She had to apologize to Kathlyn. At the party. She arrived at the party. It was at the schools pool but nobody was gonna be in the pool. She scanned for Kathlyn and Jonathons combined crowd. Bingo. Kathlyn was wearing a beautiful white dress with fur at the top and black heels. Darla pushed passed the crowd. She dashed as fast as she could in her flats without slipping. She hugged Kathlyn. Kathlyn felt a long moment of happiness and surprise pass over her. “What do I have to do to apologize?” Darla asked. Kathlyn hugged her tight. Kathlyn pushed her into the pool. The two laughed. Darla pooled Kathlyn into the pool. People were watching this and videoing the two. It was nice to be the reason for Kathlyn’s smile.
