The smell of burning scales rung around the cave. One SandWing was alive but Volcano knew he couldn’t be left. She pounced on the SandWing, using her steaming talons to slit his neck. He writhed in pain and opened his mouth to scream at his murderer, but only blood gurgled as he flopped lifelessly onto the floor. Blood scorched Volcano’s burning scales while tears streamed down her face. She hated killing, almost as much as she hated NightWings. She wiped the tears and lifted her huge wings and took off into the starlit sky. Volcano landed gracefully at a cave entrance, wiping her bloodstained talons. “Cave?” she called into everlasting darkness. A deep red dragon limped out of the black shadows. “Volcano!” Cave’s scales weren’t burning, but were much darker. Almost vermillion. White teardrop scales like Volcano’s rested at the corners of each of his eyes. “I would’ve died if you weren’t here when I get home, Cave” Volcano mentioned, while her thoughts of killing more crept into her head. “It’s ok, Volcano. Now you’re home” Cave said. Cave lit a torch, Lighting the coal niches. “Did you get us food for tonight?” “Not yet” Volcano said, tilting to the side. Oh no drifted her thoughts I’m having a vision Moonlight. Forest. There’s me, but who am I talking to? A ghostly image of a large grey-blue SeaWing has horrible scars dripping from his neck to his front talons was talking to future-Volcano. Volcano had a flashback of Cave reading scrolls to her, as she couldn’t touch them without them burning up. Prince Albatross of the SeaWings. This couldn’t be possible. Albatross lived over 2,000 years ago. He should be dead. Suddenly, the image of future-Volcano slowly faded into nothingness. Volcano gasped, meaning this ghost was actually visiting her. Hello, young Volcano. Whispered Albatross. “No!” yelped Volcano “You can’t be real!” Oh, But I am. Fear spread through Volcano like a wildfire. She clutched her head, trying to snap out of the vision “No!” Don’t be scared, little dragonet. I’m not going to hurt you A malicious smile spread across Albatross’s face. Volcano stepped back while the vision faded. I’m still going to be here, in your head. Volcano opened her eyes, snapping out of the vision “Hey, Volcano, You alright?” asked Cave “Yeah, I’m alright.” Volcano responded, sitting up. Cave threw a mountain goat leg at Volcano, hitting her on the side of her face, making it burn up. She gave Cave a resentful look while he just looked guilty. They had been living on their own for a while, mostly because their parents abandoned them (Or that’s what Volcano thought, but Cave actually knew their parents and he wouldn’t say a thing about them. All he said was “They were gone when you hatched”) They got along. Most of the time. Volcano rolled her eyes, picking up some goat with her mouth and then promptly ate it.
