soo... it's not really a story, and i wrote it at SWC, but if it is allowed here it is! The Constellations And How They Came To Be Scientists have proved that constellations are The Ancient Ones' ashes. The Ancient Ones are celestial beings that ruled over Earth in early, early, ages. The Ancient Ones had a special elixir that they drank, so that when they died, they would burn, and their ashes would float up, up, up! And into the sky. These ashes would then form something like the shape and personality that they had on Earth. For example, the great shape-shifter and fierce Ancient One, Aurora, is the great Ursa Major, or the Great Bear. Aurora was fierce and strong, so she turned into something that is also fierce and strong, like a great bear. Also, the great archer Ancient One, Orion, turned into… well… Orion. Orion always wore a belt, and he was always shooting; so his great archer constellation that you can always find by finding his belt suits him. Orion and Aurora went on to marry, and had their child, Flora, who is Ursa Minor, or Little Bear. Flora eventually grew up to be a vicious warrior, much like a bear (and her mother!). Scientists are trying to recreate this elixir, which they have named “sidera”, which means “constellations” in Latin. People have mixed feelings about this idea. Some people believe that all people have a right to become a constellation, where others believe that only the Ancient Ones deserve that privilege. Either way, the recreation process is going well. Scientists recently tested this new elixir on Maria Hawthorne, a 46 year old woman who died of terminal cancer. Her constellation *almost* worked. Her ashes floated up into the sky to form the constellation we called, “Tango”, because it looks as though she is dancing with the stars. The “almost” pat is because her constellation only lasted for 2 weeks before her ashes fell into the sea, so scientists still have to make this last indefinitely. All in all, constellations are beautiful, heartbreaking, and tell a story told by The Ancient Ones, and soon, possibly some others! Constellations are a way to remember people. ~fin~
