SW: A Lost Hope and a Last Hope | Chapter 1

Hey everyone! This is a fanfiction I've been working on for quite a while now - a little over a year, I think. I'm still working on it and am really enjoying it. It's some of my best writing, and I know a bunch of Star Wars fans on Scratch, so I've decided to share it. I'm interested to see what people think. Since the chapters are so short, I'll be sharing them in sections, with shorter chapters grouped together and shared at once, while longer ones might be shared on their own. The chapters switch between point of view, tense, and first/third person. Luke and Leia are both written in first person present tense. The italics in third person past tense still take place in the present, which I hope won't be too confusing. In later chapters there will also be some parts that are basically just talking over comms, which I'll try to explain better when those parts are shared. I'll be sharing the story itself in the forums, but each time I post a new chapter, I'll also share a project with a link to the chapter, a short intro/description, and an illustration drawn by me. SPOILER WARNING: This fanfiction contains spoilers for the Star Wars Original Trilogy, Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian, and will probably contain more in the future (I'll add them when the time comes). I'll also try to have spoiler warnings for individual chapters. As a last note, please don't post any messages in the forum, as I'd like to keep things organized and have it only for the actual story. Synopsis (huge spoilers for Return of the Jedi): We all know the story of Luke Skywalker's journey to become a Jedi Knight. Surely you remember the Battle of Endor, where he fought his father and the Emperor, as well as the pull of the Dark Side. But Darth Vader's love for his son was stronger than his loyalty to the Emperor, and Luke was right to believe there was still light inside him. The Sith were defeated, and Luke would go on to lead a new age for the Light Side of the Force. But what if things went differently? What if, in one crucial moment, Luke didn't stop to think, and ended up doing something he thought he never would? And what if he hated himself too much to turn back? Luke Skywalker, who had been a new hope for the galaxy, would be gone. His sister, Leia, would be left to lead a broken Rebellion, and is also, perhaps, the only hope for the Jedi. They'll both go down hard paths, and both will experience many losses along the way. In the end, will brother and sister come back together, or be torn apart forever? CHAPTER ONE SYNOPSIS: The battle of Endor is raging. Aboard the Death Star, Luke Skywalker duels his father. Will he have the strength to resist the pull of the Dark Side until he can get his father to turn to the Light Side? I think chapter two is better, so if this one doesn't seem the best, please don't be put off.
