I had just been promoted to the biggest mission in the history of CONTROL – Aka, the worldwide organization of espionage and assassination (W.O.E.A) – because my dad is a big-shot spy and wanted me to follow in his footsteps. He knew it was dangerous. I might not have come home that night if it wasn’t for… I’m getting ahead of myself. As I said, I was on a mission. My mission? To infiltrate the biggest mafia in the region. If all else failed, kill them all. My hand went to my gun holster. So many lives can be taken, with one gun. One bullet. And, truth be told, it bothered me. How I had to kill so many people. It still does. As if every life I took followed me around. The longer I’m alive, the more lives I take. More hearts, more screams, more tears… Anyway, as I walked down the alley, these thoughts running through my head, I was completely unaware that I was being surrounded from afar. But I found out soon enough because one of the guys came into my field of vision. He had black eyes, deep as pits, and a vicious smile. As he came closer, I recognized him. James Hilson. Second in command of the mafia. He’s known to be a vicious killer, assassinating innocent people without batting an eye. I took a shaky breath, hoping he was alone. He wasn’t. He had a group of about 10 guys behind him, all as scary-looking as him. They had full skull masks. Dressed in head-to-toe black jumpsuits. Not to mention that they were all armed with weapons, most of them stolen from the agents they killed. My breath hitched in my throat but I wouldn’t let my fear show. Then I heard a small noise, right behind me. It sounded like a footstep. Someone was standing behind me, no doubt. But I didn’t turn around. I knew – or at least thought – it was supposed to be a distraction. So I kept my eyes on the masked guys and James. “State your name and business,” He commanded. I took another shaky breath before answering, “Crimson. Crimson D’Angelo.” James scowled. “A CONTROL agent, I suppose?” I didn’t answer. Instead, I raised my arm to my gun and tried to get it out of it’s holster. But as soon as my hand touched the gun, a voice behind me said, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you..” I knew his voice. His deep, gravelly voice could send shivers down the spine of even the most unfeeling assassin out there. Xavier Pierce. Aka, X. The head of the mafia. I quickly spun around to look at him, my face paling up. He smirked. “Not so tough now, are we?” He asked. I swallowed hard, quickly took my gun out, and then pointed it at him. To be honest, it wasn’t the best move in all my career because as soon as I pulled it out he took hold of my wrist and twisted my arm behind my back. I yelped in pain and dropped my gun, allowing him to kick it away with his foot. As I watched the gun skid across the pavement, I knew I had already lost. But, being my father’s daughter, I wasn’t going to give up that easily. I started to try and wriggle out of his grasp, but he twisted my arm even harder, making me gasp in pain. “You don’t know who you’re messing with,” I hissed. “Oh, yes I do,” Xavier replied coldly, “I’m messing with a puny little girl with a tiny pistol and a big attitude problem.” I felt like punching him. I probably (definitely) would have if it wasn’t for him restraining me. I started to struggle against him again. “LET ME GO ALREADY,” I screamed at him. “SHUT UP,” he shouted back, “You should be grateful I’m letting you stay alive. I could have easily shot you as soon as you crossed my territory.” I knew it was true. He could have shot me. That’s how most of the CONTROL agents put on this mission died. So why not me? I put the thought out of my head for later discussion and continued trying to get out of his hold. It was no good. He was way too strong.
“Please, please, please let me go,” I pleaded desperately, not really expecting him to care. But then, something happened. His grip wavered the slightest bit. Then it loosened and he gave me enough room to slip out of his grasp. It surprised me so much that, for a moment, I couldn’t move. Then I shook myself out of my shock and yanked my arm from his hold. I turned to look at him, examining his expression for a short moment. He looked… almost… normal. Not like a scary mafia leader. But like a normal, college-aged guy. I almost felt bad for him. But that moment ended quickly. I heard the click of a gun behind me and whipped around to see James pointing a small, white gun at me. I hadn’t seen any gun like it, but I didn’t want to know what It shot. I turned around and tried to run, but one of the bullets caught me on my forearm. I knew why the gun looked so different. Because it didn’t shoot regular bullets. It shot tranquilizer darts. I felt my body relax and before I could even get my head to stop spinning, my knees buckled and I fell unconscious. Right into X’s arms. (End of chapter 1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey guys! So, you survived the first chapter. Congrats! Hopefully, you didn't almost die of cringe hah-. Anyway, this is a book I started working on in 2022 and kinda... Forgot about lol. After digging through my Word files, I found (*Drum roll*), About 3 chapters of this unfinished book! So, I decided, 'Hey, maybe you should post this book on Scratch so you can get some motivation to keep writing it!'. At first, I thought it was a bad idea, (like, sock and sandals type bad idea *dies inside*), but then I thought; 'Well if you don't post the chapters, you will be held accountable for giving up on this book. #MOTIVATIONNNN!'. So... Here I am. Posting this carppy (I misspelled on purpose lol) book. (*awkward silence*) Anywaysss, I hope you enjoyed this first chapter! If you liked it, show that heart button some luvvvvvvvv.
