Chapter 3 In all the commotion, the three didn’t notice the attackers leave the room. Timber cursed under her breath. “Alright. Dan, I need you to burn the ropes.” Timber planned. Dan looked unsure, but did it anyways. This time the flame was more under control. The ropes burned easily and soon everyone was free. Timber lifted a hand up to her cheek and winced when she touched it. “Here,” Weyv said. “Let me help.” Timber stood still as he carefully brushed her burn with a small rain cloud. “Better?” he said gently. “Yeah.” Timber whispered. The entire time, Dan had been searching for a way out. “Uh, guys?” he said. Timber and Weyv turned to look at him. He was looking up. “I think we can escape.” He pointed the way he was looking and the two followed his gaze. There was an air vent that lead out of the room. “Weyv—” Timber started, but Weyv muttered, “No need.” as he made a small gust of wind to blow them up. But as they neared the top, the gust went out of control and made a sudden burst under Timber. She slammed into the ceiling and tumbled down from 15 feet in the air. The sudden event caused Weyv’s concentration to waiver and both him and Dan tumbled down. Both the boys got lucky and landed hard, but not injured. However, Timber rolled over and groaned. “My arm feels worse than my burn.” she mumbled. After a minute she sat up and tried to move her right arm. It was moving, but not without hurting. “What happened she muttered. Weyv stood up and went over to Timber. “Are you okay?” he said, sounding slightly concerned. “Yeah. There was a small snap when I hit… but I feel fine.” Timber said. She winced as she moved her arm a bit more. Weyv frowned and looked around. He spotted a piece of fabric and a piece of rope. He grabbed it and turned it into a sling, handing it to Timber. “Here.” he said. “Thanks.” Timber mumbled while getting it set. “I hope you can run because I found a door.” Dan said. “I’m pretty fast.” Both Timber and Weyv said. They blushed and turned away from each other. They walked over and got ready to run. Dan flung the door open. But instead of going straight, the hall took a sharp turn. Weyv crashed into the wall of the dark hall, but soon recovered and ran the other way. Timber happened to be the fastest of them all and pulled ahead, going so fast the world was a blur. She slowed a second to make sure Dan and Weyv were still behind her. She then sped around a corner and ran right into Clinda. She scrambled to her feet, getting ready to fight, but soon saw it was Clinda. The two boys came up right behind her and crashed into Timber. They all fell but Timber managed to miss her arm. They all got up and faced Clinda. “What happened to you’re arm?” Clinda asked. “I fell from fifteen feet up in the air and broke it.” Timber answered, shrugging. Clinda turned to Weyv. “What happened?” Weyv lifted his wrist, showing the device around it. “Our powers are malfunctioning, she slammed into the ceiling, she fell down and broke her arm.” Weyv snapped. Clinda rolled her eyes. She snatched her brother’s wrist and froze the device with some ice. She hovered her fist over his wrist and quickly opened her hand, shattering the ice and the metal with it. She repeated the process until all the weird devices were shattered and on the ground. “How is it you all get in trouble when I’m not around?” Clinda said, exasperated when she was done. Weyv rolled his eyes and Timber had an annoyed look on her face. “We should go.” said Dan. “Agreed.” said the other three. They broke off running down the hall where Clinda had come from. They entered a large, lit, room. The walls were painted a cream color and the floor was made of tiles. The heard the sound off footsteps grow near, and with no where to go, they face the hallway which they’d come out of. The footsteps grew louder until it seemed like the person should be there already. The sound stopped and all of a sudden the lights flickered out.
