Darkness. That's what sleeping was for Monarchflutter. Launching yourself into the darkness and hoping not to wake the beast. But tonight- mm. Tonight was... different. Tonight felt... dangerous. Tonight, Monarchflutter awoke the beast. She had been taking more and more risks in the darkness, and she could feel the beast waking every night, and tonight, it fully woke. Monarchflutter woke up that morning in a cold sweat. Everything seemed... fine. Was there anything to worry about after all? Had the beast really awakened? She glanced outside the warrior's den at the sky. Oh shoot- it was past sunhigh- why didn't anyone wake her! She darted out of the den and into the camp clearing, but stopped abruptly. Was... was everyone staring at her? Monarchflutter glanced around nervously. Was her fur dirty? Was she half asleep still? Did her breath smell bad? She let out a soft whimper. Everyone's eyes seemed to be on her when they thought she wasn't looking. Were they laughing at her behind her back? She let out a small whimper groan- a whimper and a groan. Had all of her friends told the clan about how she acted on the boats? All horrible and mean and just... rude? No- no. No one was laughing. But it felt like they were all staring. One cat started to move towards her and Monarchflutter panicked. She whimpered and ran back to the warrior's den. She dragged her nest of moss and her things to a far back corner, leaving moss scraps behind her. She buried herself in the moss, slow tears running down her cheeks. The beast had awaken.
