The blue arrow is the direction in which the player is going to throw the hot potato, press space or tap to throw the potato to another player, the potato must NOT touch the fire or the edge of the screen, if not, you'll die. You receive 1 point if you successfully pass the potato, and 5 extra points if all the players have touched the potato, this will restart over and over again. Be careful with the timer, if it reaches HOT! the player will automatically throw the potato no matter in what direction he's facing.
