Frozen in Ice - 3rd POV Nova was the only one not cold. Everyone was shivering, so they all nabbed some coats, except for Reeva and Artemis, who paid. Ikos and Nicky were not talking. This made it awkward since these two also were going to be the ones covering for the gang. “Well…” Nova said, breaking the silence. “Where are we going?” “Trying to find someone who can tell us where the Mysterious Desert is. My teleporter won’t connect there.” Lennox explains. “Oh okay.” Belle, being mischievous, noticed how Lennox and Nova were getting closer. “Shame what happened with lovebirds.” She announces. “Be quiet,” Nicky growls. Ikos shuffles closer- “Go away.” “What?” He backs off and goes next to Artemis. “What do I do??” Artemis shrugs. “Beats me. Let her cool off, then talk to her.” Meanwhile, Nova had snuck off and was exploring. “Hey! She’s the thief!” A guard yelled before grabbing her. Without a sound, the Rouge was carried off into the Palace of Sparkling Ice. Fast forward to 2 hours later. “Um. Guys?” Lennox shouted suddenly. “Where’s Nova?” A quick scan proved Nova was nowhere in sight. “Great.” Nicky grumbles. “Guys.” Reeva says shakily. “Check this out.” The group crowds around a poster that reads “EXECUTION OF OUTLAWS TO TAKE PLACE AT HOUR OF JUPITER.” Images were depicted of multiple women, including Nova. “Well that’s bad news.” Artemis says. Ikos examines it and checks the time. “Hour of Jupiter is in 2 hours.” He declares, checking to see if Nicky looked at him. She ignores it. “We have 2 hours to bust Nova out. Outlaws are held in the Sparkling Ice.” Nicky says, dismissing Ikos’s words. “The what?” Chorus the group. “Sparkling Ice is the name of the Ice Palace.” She clarifies. “I’ll bait the guards, you guys sneak in, free Nova, and get out.” “Sounds good.” Belle says. The gang snuck up to the back, minus Nicky, who decided to distract the guards. “How does one girl distract 5 guards?” Reeva asked skeptical. Ikos was not happy. “You’ll see…” Nicky skips up to the force and smiles. “Hello boys. How are you this fine day?” “Oh. Oh dear,” Belle chuckles. The pretty teenager started flirting with the guards, sending a brief “Go!” Look at her friends. Ikos balled his fists up. “She doesn’t mean it, come on.” Belle drags Ikos into the palace. The emotionless boy calmed down and took a breath. “Dungeons would be underground…” “Well duh.” Reeva pushes past the rest of the kids and starts downstairs. “HALT!” Someone boomed. “Look alive guys there a girl down here.” Reeva calls. “I’m a boy!” “My mistake…” While Reeva was distracting and getting distracted by the guard, Belle snuck past him and clambered into the dungeon. “Who even are you?” “Xiphos, guard to Queen Ika.” He stands up tall. “I’ll have to ask what your business in the dungeon is.” “Uh…” Lennox made a duck face. Nicky was their negotiator, bu she was still outside. Xiphos placed a hand on his sword. “You have 3 seconds.” Silence. A soft patter of feet, a small groan, and a creak of an iron door. 2 seconds. A slip of a window shill. 1 second. No one had an excuse. “I see.” Xiphos’s face hardens. “Your here to free the prisoners. I can’t let you do that.” He lunges with his hand and the blade is unleashed with a ring, stabbing at Lennox. He jumps back, just as Belle appears with a bedraggled Nova. “Run!” Nova croaks. Everyone nods, just as Xiphos whistled to summon backup. The group get chased through the levels of the palace when they burst through the main door, greeting a still flirting Nicky. She nods curtly to the guards and jumps off the ledge to meet the gang. “Stop.” She turns around and sees Xiphos. He lunges and Nicky grabs her dagger. Xiphos smacks her hand and the knife clatters to a stop a few feet away. They look at each other before making a mad dash to it. Xiphos reaches there first. He hunches over and Nicky approaches. “Girl what are you doing?” Nova calls. “Making sure he’s alright.” Nicky yells back. Suddenly, Xiphos turns and presses the sharp steel to Nicky’s neck, the edge biting into her skin. “Don’t move if you want to live.” Cue Ikos rising behind Xiphos and smacking him on the head with an apple. The impact rattles the guard’s helmet and he passes out cold. “Let’s go.” Ikos says, offering his hand. Keep scrolling… Nicky takes it and smiles. “Indeed we shall.” They jumps off the terrace and land next to their friends. “Well. That was a bust.” Artemis says. “Be more careful Nova.” “Fine fine.” The thief rolls her eyes. Lennox checks his device. “I think we shouldn’t freeze to death BEFORE we save the Realms. Let’s check out the Peace Realm. It might be…” “Don’t even think about it…” everyone warns. “Cooler there.” Reeva and Nicky tackle Lennox.
