Her mother was astonished . "We- we can sell this for funds ! " She gaped . "Then I can retire and still provide for you and your brother ! " "But mom-" Elara meowed . "Moonblossoms can't be sold ! They choose someone to be with and if they are separated the moonblossom withers ! " "Shush foolish child- who was the letter directed too ? " "Me." Elara replied , swallowing a huge gulp of air . "Lemme see that . " Her mother brutally yanked the letter out of her paws and began to study it . "Dear Elara , this letter is from someone who would like to remain anonymous . The fact an ancient power is passed through your bloodline has reached us , and that power can be needed in the coming war . Follow the moonblossom , and hopefully the shards of power remains in your blood . " Her mother read . "Yes . It could be important . " Offered Elara . "No . We need to cash . " Her mother snarled . "Your brother is draining our remaining cash slowly and slowly on online avatars , and who knows how he knows how to access our bank account . " "But if I come back as a war hero , won't people donate ? " Elara protested . "Cats are too greedy . They won't spare a single penny . " Her mother growled , before snatching the blossom . It was obvious to both of them the sparkles began to dim . In Elara's head , a little voice began to protest . She was chosen , so the moonblossom was hers . Her mother was NOT entitled to taking it . She swiped out a paw . The moonblossom immediately burst into sparkles again as it drifted out of the window . Run . The voice hissed . Elara didn't know what she was doing , but ran . Her mother was slow , and couldn't catch up as she chased and chased the petal across the fields . Till she saw it . The petal hovered above a glittering mirror of blue glass , as the sun drowned . The sky was fading from soft yellow to deep purples and the stars were twinkling into life . Maybe this life would be fine .
