Both her and Beatrix were camping out in a hiding spot across from the abandoned warehouse, waiting for the Helex spies to arrive. "Yeah. Oh. Wait. We shouldn't have left Harper alone," Beatrix said. Tiffany winced when she realized that they had indeed left her alone. "Well, Serenity Academy has an insane amount of security. There's no way she can get out of there." Beatrix opened her mouth to reply, then gasped and pointed. "Look. They're here." Sure enough, a group of black-suited people--probably all girls--were running into the building. "Alright, let's go," Tiffany said. And so they left, not noticing the girl that ran in after the other girls. The girl that definitely didn't belong there. Harper snuck quietly in after the other girls. She didn't know exactly why they were there, but she knew that she had to see Tracy--who she had already spotted. She just had to separate Tracy from the others. And she was pretty sure she knew how. Harper slunk back into the shadows, grabbing a pebble off the ground and throwing it right in front of Tracy. Tracy stopped, looked down at the pebble, and then in the direction where it was thrown. Her eyes narrowed, and she turned to the other girls. "I'm going to go check something out over there," she said. She pointed down to a tunnel that led downwards. "You guys go and see if it's down there. I'll make sure to call if I need help." "Don't bother," Olive said curtly. "We all remember what Daniel said." "Yeah, and we all know that you know what he said especially," Stephanie said, sounding disgusted, even though, as Harper recalled, she had left her behind too. But they all went downstairs anyways, and Tracy stalked towards the shadows. Harper held her breath as she made her way up to the catwalk above, and Tracy's head snapped up at the sound of her footsteps. She stalked forward, hurrying after Harper. At the top of the catwalk, though, when Harper turned around, Tracy scrambled to a halt, looking shocked. "Harper?!" she gasped. "Tracy," Harper said, smiling weakly. "I'm back." Tracy's eyes narrowed. "They said you went with those Serenity Academy spies." "They lied. They kidnapped me--don't look at me like that! They did!" Harper insisted. "Have you any idea what I went through to get here--to fulfill my promise to you?" "It took you three weeks." "It did?" Harper asked. Clearly, she had been out for longer than she thought. Or she just hadn't paid attention to the time. She shook her head. "That doesn't matter. I'm here now." "But it does. Daniel told us all about you, Harper. Said that you were the descendant from the very person who created the Serenity Academy. That you're a princess. You're a liar, Harper," Tracy spat. "What?" Harper gasped. "Don't!" Tracy shouted. "Don't pretend like you don't kn--" She stopped suddenly, staring at Harper's pendant. Harper looked down at it, and back up at Tracy, sucking in a breath when she realized--her pendant was the very necklace they were probably looking for. "Harper, give me the pendant." Tracy sounded unnaturally calm as she said it. "No. It's mine." Tracy's jaw tightened. "Give me the pendant. I'm not going to say it again." "And neither am I," Harper snapped. "The pendant is mine. I'm not letting you or Daniel have it." "Well, then," Tracy said, running a hand through her ponytail. "Looks like we'll have to do this the hard way." And then she lunged at Harper. ˜”*°•.˜”*°• End of chapter •°*”˜.•°*”˜
