YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED W A R N E D ___________________________________________ ˜”*°•.˜”*°• Start of chapter •°*”˜.•°*”˜ Harper stumbled back in shock, clutching her abdomen. When she let go, her hand was covered with red--and more was coming from the wound. "You shot me," she said slowly, looking up at Tracy in shock. "I warned you," Tracy said flatly. "Give me the pendant, Harper." Then Harper suddenly became aware of somebody lurking in the shadows. A familiar, dangerous somebody. Tracy followed her gaze, and in the moment she was distracted, Harper tore off her pendant and threw it down at Tiffany and Beatrix, knowing they would catch it, knowing they would run, even if they didn't want to, knowing it was the best possible thing to do. To escape and get help. Because then Daniel emerged from the darkness. The last Harper had heard, he had been captured by the Serenity Academy. She wasn't sure how he had escaped. But he was there now, and that was a HUGE problem. "Hello again, Harper," he said coolly. "And Tracy, must I say, nice shot. However, in my opinion, you should've aimed more to the left." Harper glowered at him, knowing that if Tracy had, she would've been dead by now. "Now," Daniel said, turning back to Harper. "I think it's time to get some answers." "You aren't getting my pendant," she replied. Daniel laughed. "Oh, Harper. I thought you'd understood by now. Don't you know? We don't care about the pendant, and frankly, we don't care about you, either. Not everything is centered around you, Harper," he added, leaning in close and narrowing his eyes at her. "And with that, we'll leave you alone, with the knowledge that everything is only going to get So. Much. Worse." Harper barely registered his words--she was in so much pain. She barely noticed it when Daniel and the others left. She barely even noticed it when Tiffany and Beatrix came back with medical help, as Tiffany crouched beside her to help carry her down the catwalk and to the ground, where they put her on a gurney. "You're going to be okay," Tiffany told her. "I knew we should've took her back to the room," Beatrix said, sounding choked up. "We're losing her," said a woman Harper didn't know as the world started fading to black. "Harper!" "Hey, Harper, catch!" squealed a little girl with short blonde hair and amber eyes, tossing a ball at Harper's face. Harper turned and caught it just in time, doubling back in shock. "Hey, you almost hit me in the face!" The girl shrugged. "I knew you'd catch it," she said, and then noticed something in an alley nearby. She frowned, turning, and said a name that wasn't familiar to Harper. "Wait, where are you going?" Harper asked nervously as the girl disappeared into the shadows. The girl didn't answer. Harper waited a few more moments, and then heard a bloodcurdling scream that made her heart stutter. She started running towards the alley, terrified and not sure what she as a three-year-old could do if her friend was in trouble, and then let out a shriek as she was grabbed by somebody, dragged into the shadows. But where, just where, had her friend gone? ˜”*°•.˜”*°• End of chapter •°*”˜.•°*”˜
