The purple fox looked at her blacks paws, surprised they were there. "Why am I here?" She asked, whipping around, just in time to see the red outline of a fox fill in with many shades of orange. "You left me to die, Starfly," Said the fox. He was exactly how Starfly remembered him. Sweet, sad... dripping with water. His face was a mirror of all the pain she'd caused him. "You don't understand," the purple fox fumbled with her words, unable to meet his eyes. "Emptiness held me back, threatened me-" The orange fox scowled. "YOU PROMISED ME!!!" he roared in fury. "You promised me you'd always stand up for me! Then you simply abandoned me. This never should have happened. But it did, because of you! It's all your fault!" The anger slowly melted back into betrayal and hurt, and a wounded expression. "I loved you, Starfly. You were the only one I ever loved. I gave my heart to you to keep. But... you broke it, and now there's pieces missing, which I can't seem to find." Starfly still couldn't look at him. "You don't have to be this way, It's not over for you-" the purple fox tried to tell him. "Yes it is!" Fire shouted. "You MADE me this way, can't you see it? I can never come home now... home is gone... and you've left me with nothing." He looked up at her with pleading eyes. "Why can't you love me, Starfly? Why can't you save me?" Starfly looked away. "There's nothing I can do for you," she whimpered. "I don't know how to help you." Fire looked down. "I see." He said, sadly. "Then I'll be what you've made me become." He looked at her, lifting her chin, making her look into his eyes. Then he faded away, his form scattering like dust on the wind. And the last Starfly saw of him was his lost, abandoned, sad face, reflecting a heart she'd broken so many years ago.
