Warriors: A Fan-made Series Book 1: Snowballing Troubles Chapter 4 Part 2 Snowball’s chest swelled with pride. Foxtail acknowledged him as a good hunter! His heart felt as though he had eaten honey, and his face lit up with happiness. “Thank you,” Snowball said. Foxtail laughed again and so did Snowball. Just then, Snowball realised Foxtail was his new friend. The two continued talking and unknowingly, the sun had begun to set. Eventually, Flowerheart and the other warriors returned from the patrol. They then went to the fresh-kill pile for dinner. After all cats had eaten their fill, Rainstar leaped onto the Highledge and said, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highledge for a Clan meeting.” Many cats came and sat near the Highledge, leaving some space in the middle. Snowball sat with Flowerheart and Foxtail, waiting for the meeting to start. Blossomkit and her friend sat in the middle. Blossomkit leaned against her mother, whiskers quivering in excitement. After a while, Rainstar announced, “Cats of StormClan! As all of you know, there is a Gathering tomorrow. We shall leave at sun-down.” The cats replied with meows of agreement. Rainstar paused before saying, “It is also time for two kits to become apprentices. Blossomkit, and Honeykit.” “Blossomkit and Honeykit, both of you have reached the age of six moons, and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Blossompaw and Honeypaw. Blossompaw, your mentor shall be Foxtail, and Honeypaw, your mentor shall be Flowerheart.” “Foxtail and Flowerheart, you are ready to take on an apprentice. Both of you have received excellent training from Mudfly, and you have shown yourselves to be brave and kind. You will be the mentors of these apprentices, and I expect you to pass on all you know to them.” Rainstar now looked at both warriors, who nodded proudly. Stepping forward, Flowerheart touched noses with Honeypaw, and rubbed against her gently. Foxtail seemed a bit confused, but saw Flowerheart touching noses and hurriedly did the same with Blossompaw. “Blossompaw! Honeypaw!” Around them, the cats cheered for the new apprentices. Snowball felt elated for his two friends and cheered loudly. When the noise had died down, Rainstar declared, “The Clan is dismissed.” The cats left to do their duties or where they wanted to be. Foxtail and Flowerheart walked beside their apprentices. Snowball approached them and said, “Congratulations on having an apprentice!” Foxtail and Flowerheart smiled at him. Blossompaw prodded Foxtail. “I’m going to be the BEST warrior when I’m older!” she meowed happily. Foxtail laughed. “But firrrst you will have to complete your apprentice training,” he said, bumping her side. Snowball glanced at Honeypaw, who was very unlike Blossompaw. Honeypaw looked at her white paws, not saying a word. His thought were interrupted by Blossompaw’s meows. “Can we do some training now?” she asked her mentor. Foxtail looked at Snowball, then at Flowerheart. “Well, how about we go explore the territory first?” he said after a pause. “Snowball, do you want to join us?” Snowball said, “Of course!” Flowerheart smiled. “So which part of our territory do you want to go first?” she asked, looking at the two apprentices. Honeypaw continued staying silent but Blossompaw immediately cried out, “The Sunderlands!” They all agreed and they set off for the Sunderlands. There was quite a lot of prey moving around there. Foxtail, Flowerheart, and the two apprentices waited as Snowball caught some prey and buried them. Later, they explored the Sunderlands and the other parts outside camp. Snowball looked on as his friends told the apprentices about the areas. Although Honeypaw was quiet most of the time, she was a fast learner. Blossompaw proved herself to be curious and kept asking her mentor about some areas like the Sunderlands. When they returned to camp, it was almost dark. However, Blossompaw was still running around with boundless energy. Flowerheart told them, “I think that is enough for today, we shall learn hunting tomorrow.” “I can’t wait to sleep in the apprentice den!” The three warriors heard Blossompaw say as the two apprentices headed to their new den. Foxtail sighed. “I think the both of them will become excellent warriors when they are older,” he said confidently. Snowball meowed in agreement and they went to the warrior den for the rest that they needed for the journey to the Gathering the next day. Curling up into a ball of fur, Snowball could not help but think about Acorntree again. He sighed. Pushing his sad thoughts away from his brain, he closed his eyes and soon fell asleep.
