Sorry sorry sorry, it's been a long time. I've been busy with other things. But I did it, here's the next chapter. I'm gonna make Island of Secrets my top priority rn. Idk what that cover is lol. Carla took a bite of the granola bar, knowing well that she would be out of food in about two days if she continued at this pace. But that wasn't even the most pressing problem- she only had a sip of water left in her supply. And that was a problem. Once she was out, she was out. There had to be water somewhere in the forest, but Carla didn't want to ever go back in the woods- not with the wolves. She was too scared that they would eat her or something. And that sounded worse than dying of thirst. Carla finished the granola bar. She had no choice at this point, and had the last drink of water. She sighed and walked outside her shelter. She stared out at the ocean, which seemed to be taunting her. But there was clearly no point in drinking from it. Had she been saved from drowning for no reason? Just to be killed by water- or the lack of it- after all? What bothered her was that Carla didn't know how she had managed to escape the water and end up on this island. But somehow she had. She had a big decision to make, and she wasn't sure what the right path was. Risk going into the woods, or stay here, and... Carla didn't finish the thought. She was going to sleep on it, she decided. Even though it was only the afternoon, she was exhausted, after many sleepless nights on the island. It couldn't do any harm to wait a while, anyway. When Carla woke up, it was dark out. As soon as she remembered she was out of water, she suddenly felt thirsty. Oh, great, she thought. Just perfect. She was still tired, and didn't feel like getting up, and she soon fell back asleep. When she woke up this time, it was dawn. Not knowing what to do, Carla got to her feet immediately. She was hungry, but she figured that would only make her more thirsty. She was bored and needed something to do, so she went outside and walked over to the trees. She had to do it eventually, she knew she had to. She was going to get dehydrated very soon, and she wouldn't be able to save herself. Carla had to do it- it was her only hope. She had to go in the woods eventually. She was always going to do it. Carla started walking back to her cave, to prepare herself, but she stopped herself. Why bother? She might as well as do it now. She walked into the trees. She cut straight to the middle of the woods, without coming across any wolves or a water source. She started walking in one direction, and continued wandering around until she heard rushing water, and ran to it. There was a small hill, with a cascade of water running down it, into a pond. Carla ran to it, unable to help herself. She drank sip after sip of the refreshing water. Then she got to her feet, suddenly cautious. She felt like someone was watching her. With a sinking feeling, Carla slowly looked up. Sitting on the hill above her, was a wolf, just as she had feared. It had been there the whole time.
