✎ Kismetkeeper has just received her first apprentice, Buttermilkpaw, and so I thought I'd give a brief overview of what fae would be teaching him! Keep in mind that this was strongly inspired by Rae's project for Kiki's own apprenticeship <3 ✎ To start with, a little bit about the teaching style Buttermilk will get... ↳ Kismetkeeper is very forgetful and easily distractible. Fae might sleep in, forget to tell Buttermilkpaw about an important part of a move, or lose her way out in the territory. ↳ Nevertheless, she will /always/ try faer hardest to teach her apprentice the best she can; if she is slacking off, it is not for lack of effort. ↳ However, Kiki will not be too harsh on Buttermilkpaw! Fae will be kind and understanding if he doesn't feel up to training on a particular day. ↳ From moons 10 or 11 to 13 Kismetkeeper will be in WindClan to escape the effects of Bunnyblitz's death. If you would like for Buttermilkpaw to develop dissatisfied feelings towards faer due to this disappearance, that is totally fine with me! ↳ Kismetkeeper will usually feel as though fae doesn't know what she is doing-- as a not-very-organized cat, fae won't truly have a plan (the following is /my/ plan, haha) and will often just make things up as she goes. Whether you'd like Buttermilkpaw to notice this or not is your preference. ✎ Moon I ↳ Kismetkeeper will get to know Buttermilkpaw, including his learning style, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, etc. ↳ Most of the above would take place on walks around the territory, so that Buttermilkpaw could familiarize himself with it. This early in the training, Kismetkeeper would teach him only to get to the landmarks that would be important in future lessons. ✎ Moon II ↳ Buttermilkpaw would learn basic hunting moves, including tracking and scenting. ↳ Kismetkeeper would teach Buttermilkpaw about the warrior code as well as general common sense and kindness. ✎ Moon III ↳ Here, fighting sessions would begin. Fighting has never been Kismetkeeper's strong suit so fae would likely organize training sessions with Crocodilecrunch and Butterscotchpaw. ↳ Kismetkeeper would begin to teach Buttermilkpaw to climb trees, possibly with the help of Lullabytrill, who taught Kiki herself. ↳ She will focus on gratefulness, as Buttercuphaven taught faer to always appreciate the little things in life. ✎ Moon IV ↳ Kismetkeeper will return to tracking, this time explaining more in detail. At this point in time she will inform Buttermilkpaw of her chromesthesia and will explain how fae uses it to identify scents with greater accuracy. She will try to create lasting memories associated with the scents of various prey types in order to help Buttermilkpaw remember which is which and how to hunt them. ↳ In addition, fae will go over hunting in pairs, trios, or larger groups, and again might organize joint sessions with Crocodilecrunch. ✎ Moon V ↳ Another tour of the territory will be given, this one more in depth. Kismetkeeper will tell Buttermilkpaw little stories about some of the places they visit to help him (and her) remember them. ↳ Kismetkeeper will ask Buttermilkpaw what he thinks he needs more practice and they will work on that until he is more confident. Fae might also give him a practice assessment. ✎ Moon VI ↳ This will be more of a "free" moon in which Kismetkeeper will let Buttermilkpaw pursue his own interests and the things that he wants to learn, with her help. Think of it as electives in middle school. ↳ Lastly, Kismetkeeper will give Buttermilkpaw his assessment. This will consist of hunting birds, mice, squirrels and rabbits; fighting herself and another apprentice of his choice; tracking faer through the territory; and climbing, of both rocks and trees. ✎ I was very happy for Kismet to receive her first apprentice, especially as he is faer mentor's son! I hope that Buttermilkpaw is able to learn well from faer and doesn't hate her too much by the end of it lol.
