Clarabel- Clara is a reference to Clara Stahlbaum from The Nutcracker, a famous fairytale ballet. Juliet- Juliet Capulet from R&J. Liebestraum- Love Dream in German, also a piece by Liszt. Jean-Claude- Claude is a reference to Monet due to his work 'Impression, soleil levant'- the rising sun. Romeau- Romeo Montague from R&J but Gallicised. Du Brise- a play on 'brise' (meaning 'broken' in French) and 'debris' music- mademoiselle noir by peppina
