I decided to go out and try to hunt. It wasn't long until I found and nice fat mouse eating a nut that had fallen. I crouched down and slowly walked towards it. "Hey Berry! What ya' doing?" *No! My mouse!* I sadly watched the mouse dive under the leaves. I whipped around and saw Vixen. "What was that for? I almost had it!" I yelled. "Oh. I didn't know you were hunting. I'm so sorry. You can have some of these berries!" she offered a few bright purple berries. I pushed her paw away. "No thanks. I can just try to catch something else." I turned around and walked further into the forest. I sniffed around to see if could find anything. There was a familiar scent. I couldn't figure out who or what it was. I just sat there trying to smell it better. Then it hit me. This was Smoke's scent! My brother was here! But why? That didn't matter. I need to find him! I need to tell him what happened. Maybe he'll understand. He always does. Before I did anything that might get me into more trouble, I raced back to Vixen's den. "Vixen! Guess what! Vixen!" I yelled. She poked her head out of the den. "What?" "My brother was here! He came to find me!" "Your brother?" she asked. "Yes! He was here in the forest! I could smell him! I need to go find him." Shock filled Vixen's face. "Do you have to leave? Already?" "Yes! I need to find my brother and tell him everything that happened!" I insisted not seeing how sad she looked. "Oh. Do you not want me to leave?" I asked. Vixen looked down, then back up at me. "Not really. I haven't really had anyone to talk to since-" she cut herself off. "Since what?" I asked. "Since I had to start eating these blue leaves and gone to live in this den." she explained. "Oh. How come you have to eat the blue leaves?" I asked not wanting to sound to nosey. To my suprise, she responded. "Well, when I was little, I got sick. Like super super sick. No one knew how to cure it. But then there was this one cat. She-cat. She had the prettiest light green eyes. Her fur was a light gray." For a second I wondered if she was talking about my mother. But then I realized, my mother was never good with herbs. "Her name was Moon. One day she just came to where I had lived with my family and told me eat five of those blue leaves. And just like that. I felt better. I don't know how that happened, but it did. The only side effect was that I got these red eyes." She saw the shock on my face. "Oh don't worry. You won't get red eyes. It only did it because those leaves were super old. I gave you fresh ones." She explained. "Ok that's good." I said. End of Chapter 9!
