Chapter One: Appolo Appolo walked silently on the sidewalk. The only sound was the muffled “thump, thump” of his shoes on the pavement. The only light was the sun, which was mostly covered by Earth. A small breeze tossed Appolo’s blond hair around. He jumped slightly as the clock made twelve, long bongs. A few birds fluttered by as Appolo thought, “Only 5 more hours until I’ve got to get ready for school,” he sighed. “better get going.” He turned around and headed back, the wind now throwing blond strands into his face. He eventually found his way to a small house. The windows were dark and not a single sound could be heard. Appolo made his way up the wooden steps and turned into his room. Once there, he grabbed his headphones and plugged them into his phone. Laying down on his bed, he stared up at his empty ceiling. He hadn’t slept in about a week, but he’d be fine. He rarely slept, but some sort of “gift” allowed him to go 3 weeks without sleep. This was only day 7 of 21. The moment the sun peaked into his room, Appolo closed his blinds half way and grabbed his backpack. He want downstairs and grabbed a piece of bread, which he ate on the way to the bus stop. He made a beeline to the back of the bus, which was usually empty. Usually. To Appolo’s surprise, there was a girl with coal black hair and matching eyes. There was no way around it, so Appolo pulled his bangs over his eyes and sat as far away from her as possible. He turned away from her and looked out the window. She moved closer and stared at him eagerly at him. After a few minutes, she asked, “What’s your name?” Appolo pretended not to hear her, but then she asked again. “Appolo.” he replied, not looking at her. The girl’s eyes widen. “Like the god of the sun Apollo?” Appolo’s head snapped up. “You like Greek mythology, too?” The girl laughed. “Yep! I’m Ash.” Appolo nodded. “I’ve never seen you around. Where did you come from?” “Dark side of the moon. It!s way warmer here, though.” Appolo nodded again. “The light side of the moon gets most sun around here.” The bus came to a halt and everyone rushed out. “See you in class!” Ash called. She disappeared before Appolo could answer.
