hello! today i’ll be showing you how i’m making my tarot deck! (note - i plan to update this every so often, as making an entire deck of cards takes some time, so i’ll reshare occasionally!) just in case you want to follow along or make your own, i put the materials and steps below! — what you’ll need — - two decks of cards of the same size, shape, and thicknesses - paint - a pencil - time, commitment, and patience!!! (this is a big project, and it may take a long time. usually a few months, but some people end up taking a year or two!) — the steps! — 1. a tarot deck has 78 cards, while a standard deck only has 52. an easy way to solve this problem is to combine two decks! keep in mind: there will be extras! in this picture you can see that i have the standard 52 deck on the left, and 26 cards out of a separate deck. the difference in the patterns shouldn’t matter too much, as long as the cards are the same size, shape, and thickness. 2. paint both sides with your base color. cards tend to have very dark patterns on them, so it may take a few layers. — tips! — - after step 2, i recommend taking it one card at a time. focus on making the individual cards look good and have their own hidden meaning, more than speed or efficiency. this also gives you time to connect with the cards - during step 2, the cards may curl up or become soft. once they are dry, you can always (gently!!!) bend them back. they should settle naturally eventually. - if any cards rip, that’s ok! you can either rock the distressed style, or use those extra cards and replace them. — timeline — day 1: 2/18/23 tags - ignore these :) #witchcraft #tarot #cards #tutorial
