Hi! I loved Fish Seaweed Tank's design, (it's so detailed :0) So I decided to enter! I'm publishing this on the due date so hopefully it still counts- Anyways, hope you like it! :DDD ~Bio~ Name: Luminous Nickname: Lumi (Preferred :D) Gender: Female (She/her) Personality: Charming, friendly, sweet, gullible, paranoid, brittle Likes: Making toys, fish, cold drinks, bubbles, Dislikes: Dark spaces, experiments, being sick Other: Lumi is a cat, although some of her limbs have been replaced with fish tanks. The fish inside her tanks are plastic :0 Backstory: (Warning: Long, and quite possibly sad and/or disturbing :)) Lumi was sort of an experiment. She was just a regular, ordinary cat. Except she was born in a lab. Why? She didn't really know. As far as she was concerned, she didn't have real parents. She had materialized out of thin air, due to a tragic mistake. She was much too weak to do anything, and would probably end up dying. The people in charge of taking care of her didn't really care. She was merely born by mistake, and didn't really have a purpose. It didn't matter what happened to her. However, there was a specific person who saw potential in her. A cat that had materialized out of thin air by mistake? They could probably make a lot of money out of her. So instead of trying to help Lumi become stronger, they started running tests on her. Lumi was just a kit at the moment, and wasn't really sure why she was constantly in pain. About 4 months of experimenting on Lumi later, they had finished. What they gathered was that Lumi could glow in the dark, breathe underwater, had some sort of telekinesis and- that was basically it. They renamed her from "EM230" to "Luminous" after her ability to glow. But this was amazing! If they could make an exhibit for her, they were sure to make tons of money! So they placed Lumi in a tank made just for her. It was a pretty boring tank. There was nothing to do. No decorations, no anything. Just people who would pay extravagant amounts of money just to see her. A purple kit with white and orange patterns, and some white cubes on her cheeks and forehead. Lumi wouldn't even swim around, she was too weak for that. She would lay at the bottom of the tank, wondering when she could breathe fresh air again. Everyone seemed pretty disappointed that the cat that had materialized out of thin air was- lazy. That's right, they thought Lumi was lazy. Too lazy to swim, even though she was in constant pain. Lumi would barely even open her eyes, and when she did, she liked to look at the people. Everyone seemed different and unique to her. She never got bored of studying the different types of people. Lumi never forgot anyone she saw. She could see every single individual person she'd met if she just tried hard enough. Pretty soon, everyone got bored of Lumi. She wasn't doing anything except laying down at the bottom of the tank. People stopped coming. Occasionally there was a tourist or two, but that was basically it. Everyone at the lab was furious that she had stopped making money. They scolded her told her she had to be more interesting. Lumi understood what they were saying, but they weren't understanding her. She kept trying to tell them she was in pain. Everything breathe hurt. She needed help. They ignored all her strange behavior and instead started training her to do tricks underwater. Lumi was in no shape to do backflips in the water. But she always did what they asked. Otherwise they would stop feeding her. She had figured that out the hard way. But no matter what Lumi did, the tourists never came back. She couldn't make enough money. So they only saw one solution. Selling her for a lot of money. They put her up for auction, and she was sold within a week. She had been sold for 25,000$ to a well-known toymaker who went by the identity of "Golden Needle" He never revealed his real name to anyone, and nobody knew why. Golden Needle decided to keep the name Luminous, except he shortened it to give her the nickname "Lumi". Nobody at the lab every shortened her name, so it took some adjusting too. Golden Needle soon saw that Lumi was very sick. He wasn't sure what to do. The vet said that Lumi had been on the verge of death for the last year of her life, and that Lumi was probably going to die at any moment. The reason she was alive was because Lumi's body was made out of particles and she didn't have blood. If she was a real cat, she would have died long ago. Golden Needle had contacted the lab that made Lumi, and asked them what to do. They said that Lumi actually needed to have her limbs replaced with water to live, but that they had never had the budget to do so. The less body Lumi had, the more chance she had at surviving. So Golden Needle got to work. He managed to replace all of Lumi's legs and tails with water tanks. It didn't hurt Lumi because she had no real blood or body.
Art by me ;0 It took 3 hours and 47 minutes because I'm an extremely slow drawer lololollollollol The design is by @Dta_Memory :D ~ Continued Lumi backstory because I ran out of space lolololollolololololololololololololollololololololollolololol ~ It might seem inconvenient, and heavy. But Lumi was made out of particles. They weren't heavy to her. Well, they were for the first 5 days. Lumi couldn't do anything, and it took awhile before she could walk again. But eventually she got the hang of it. Although she missed her old legs, Lumi wasn't in constant pain anymore. She felt okay for the first time in her life. Golden Needle had fixed her and she was eternally grateful to him for that. Even if she really did have to have fish tanks for legs now. Golden Needle had made her a goldfish ear clip for her to wear, as a gift. Lumi lives in Golden Needle's toyshop with him. She enjoys helping make toys, and accessorizing her fur with random materials she finds. Golden Needle is Lumi's best friend, and they do almost everything together. He could never really understand what she was saying, so although it was hard, he taught Lumi to read and write. So one day, Lumi asked Golden Needle to make her little plastic fish as a decoration for her tanks. She always hated plain tanks, because she had been trapped inside one herself. Everything was fine in the toyshop. Lumi lives a happy life there. She had become a mascot for the toyshop, and although the customers seemed a bit disturbed by her fish tank legs at first, everyone grew to know and love Lumi. ~ "Lumi!" Golden Needle called up the stairs. His voice didn't echo, the toyshop was filled with many things. Lumi curiously popped her head through the doorframe at the top of the stairs. "Ah, there you are. I need more fabric for this plushie I'm working on. Would you be a dear and bring me some?" Golden Needle requested. He was excited about finishing his new toy. It was almost near completion. Lumi nodded her head, and ran into another room to retrieve fabric. There was always a rush of adrenaline inside her when she had a job to do. Even if she really did have no blood. Lumi wasn't looking where she was going, and tripped on a loose floorboard. They really needed to fix that. Lumi tumbled a bit, and eventually crashed into a table. "Are you okay?!" Golden Needle said, rushing up the stairs as soon as he heard the crashing noises. Lumi just sat there looked confused, and tried to take in what just happened. "Oh, Lumi. You crashed into the table you clumsy cat." he said to her and laughed a bit. Lumi started to get up, but recoiled once she noticed her right back leg had started to drip. "Lumi? Something wrong?" Golden Needle asked, approaching her. Lumi nodded towards her leg. She had a crack on her tank, and the water was slowly starting to seep out. "Oh dear, we're gonna need to fix that. Come, I should have glue somewhere." he said, and started searching for glue. You'd think that as a toymaker, Golden Needle would have glue easily accessible, but he was a very forgetful person and never remembered where he put things. He had at least 50 glue bottles. Lumi used her mind to lift a piece of fabric Golden Needle had lying around. "Ah, there it is. You and your photographic memory." Golden Needle said, amused. Lumi made the glue float into his hand. She wanted her tank to be fixed. It was still leaking a bit, and she didn't want to get the floor wet. "Right, time to fix your tank." he said, smiling. ~End of bio~
