heatherstar had known pumpkinflower had been retireing soon, she had expected pumpkinflower to never be leader. But now Heather had to pick the cat that potentially would lead mossclan should the old dark cat die. there were five cats that stood out to heatherstar as possible deputies. she was grateful none of her kin was among the candidates. the candidates were, skyhawk, tigerlilybee, jayplume, ravenlight, and newtfinch. ravenlight was a strong warrior, and seemed to command fear, she was a strong warrior, but not what heather wanted to see for the deputy. jayplume was a good warrior, they were dedicated to the clan and loyal, but how long would he really be deputy? heatherstar didn't want to pick a deputy that would be replaced in just a few short moons. newtfinch was in the same boat as jayplume. now the two that had really caught heatherstar's eye for potential candidates, tigerlilybee and skyhawk. skyhawk was a good warrior, loyal and honorable. he was a talented warrior, and heatherstar had trusted him to train her two kits. but was he just that, a good warrior, not a great deputy or leader. tigerlilybee was also a talented warrior, outspoken and strong. but they were so young. heatherstar didn't want another one of her, a leader at too young of an age. but tigerlily was the one heatherstar thought most likely to be a strong warrior when the leader finally died and heatherstar didn't want to do this again.
