Finally finished this! My motivation is not doing so well atm, but I'm trying to post a chapter every couple weeks. (Hello, my name is Alder.) Carla jumped. Where had the voice come from? She looked at the wolf. Wolves couldn't talk... What was wrong with her? Had being on this island by herself made her go crazy? It couldn't be from dehydration, she had just drank from the pond. Maybe it was poisoned? Carla’s head felt pretty clear, and the sky wasn’t red, so she probably wasn’t hallucinating. (Yep, sorry about the surprise. I’m the wolf up here, talking to you.) Carla turned to look at the wolf. Her name was Alder. Carla could somehow tell that it was a her. “Um… can all animals communicate with people?” She had to ask, she used to wish she could talk to her childhood dog. (Honestly, I have no idea. I don't believe we've had a human on the island before.) replied Alder. "Maybe it's only you. Or the wolves on this island. You can't talk to the other animals here, can you? That would be weird, since I assume you eat them." Carla didn't know what the heck was happening anymore, and she was trying to come up with explanations for things that couldn't be explained. (Nope. We wolves can only speak to each other. And, apparently, you. As for other people, I have no idea.) "Wait, so can you read my mind? Or you just understand what I'm saying?" said Carla, who was becoming increasingly confused. Alder responded, (That would be the latter.) "Okay, that's a relief, I guess," said Carla. She paused, unsure what else to say. That was a fault of hers, she never knew what to say to people. Or wolves, apparently. “You gonna eat me?” said Carla. Well, she had to ask. (No.) replied Alder. (I wouldn’t eat any intelligent life. Besides, you don’t look all that appetizing.) “Thank goodne-“ (I could kill you in like a minute if I wanted, though.) Carla opened her mouth and closed it. (I was kidding!) said Alder. “Oh- okay. It’s hard to tell,” said Carla. “Anyway, you’ve got some explaining to do. Why have you avoided me until now? Was that you that I saw before, when I woke up? If it was, why did you run away?” (All right, kid, slow down.) replied Alder. (I need to get back to my family. Do you want to stay with us, or stay... wherever you are?) said Alder. Carla replied, "Uhm... do you have food? I ran out." Not that she wanted to eat squirrels or whatever wolves ate. Alder got to her feet. (Yeah, sure! You can come with me now!) Carla paused a moment to consider the offer. She was pretty sure it wasn't a trap, and she was getting hungry. Then again, it was a wolf. Even if Alder was friendly, maybe the others wouldn't be. And there was always the possibility she had gone mad, since talking wolves went against everything she had learned back in elementary school. Carla breathed the forest air in deeply, and breathed out. "All right," she said, "I'll do it."
I reused one of the previous covers. The font changing thingy wasn't working so that's why it looks like garbage. First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/763442684/ Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/800725698/ Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/884645827
