₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮[ Jaime ] [ 23 . 2 . 2023 ]❜ ....................... ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ нєℓℓσ тнєяє ➷ Hey! So this is the first project that I'm posting after my /very/ long hiatus! (Sorry about that) ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ➷ Some of you may remember my years-old RP, named 'The Lab'. There were lot's of fun memories there, and when I had to do a writing project for school, I decided to base it off that RP! I was never expecting that little project to keep going into a full-blown, finished novel! There is about 60,000 words in this, and over 300 pages! This is just the first chapter, of course, but if ya'll want me to, I will post the next one! ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ I did use the idea of some other people's RP characters, although they are changed pretty far beyond their original forms! Pretty much the only things that are the same are some attributes and their names! Nevertheless, here are the people credited for these amazing characters! @TechLucario_823 for Jasper Kori (Yes, I know he's inactive now :( ) More credits to come throughout the chapters! ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ I hope ya'll are proud of how far this has come! :') ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ C r e d i t s ⁀➷ @ii_simplybee for the layout ⁀➷ @booklover883322, @--sketchify, @cuppyjo, @TechLucario_823, and @wolfwolf225 for inspiring and helping me so much! Especially you, DJ; Rping with you in that studio was one of the driving forces of this novel. ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ And, without further ado, here is the first chapter! ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ Chapter 1 Jasper Kori Cell Number 274 #526 Jasper was crouched in his small, bright cell, ice blue hair falling into his eyes. Boredom was creeping in, slowly overtaking the constant, panicky fear that normally resided in his heart, but there was nowhere he could go just yet. He glanced at the clock, a simple white round one with thick black numbers and red hands, hanging directly above the bars that covered one wall. 11:30. A whole 30 minutes until he was let out for lunch. The cell was nearly empty, and hadn’t changed one bit in the 4 years that Jasper had been there. There was not much to see. He was in a simple cell with two white walls. Where the back wall should have been, there was a floor to ceiling window made of bullet proof glass. From that window he had a brilliant view of a huge, grey ocean, with waves crashing onto a rocky shore covered in strange, orange grass. All that freedom, just out of reach. Where the front wall should have been were iron bars. Past them, he could see a white hallway with a low, glass barrier on the side opposite to him. Over the barrier was a huge drop into the lunchroom, holding hundreds of tables in neat rows, corridors leading off from the main hall into unknown darkness. A single flight of stairs rose from the ground floor, leading up to Jasper's hallway, which ran in a rectangle above the lunchroom. Cells exactly like his ran all the way around this rectangle, and although Jasper couldn't see any of the Cells horizontal to his, he could see the ones opposite. Despite the fact that he could not see the Experiments being held inside them, it made him feel slightly better about being here, to know that there were other people who were going through the same experience as him... or worse. He glanced uneasily at the flight of stairs that led from his floor, the first one, up to the second floor, and then the third floor. Jasper was in what they called a ‘normal cell’, along with everyone else on his level. These Experiments were a 5 out of 10 or below on the danger scale, meaning they were not that powerful, and the Scientists who ran the whole building weren't too worried about them being able to escape. ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮
₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ The second floor was for the security cells. Those Experiments were watched with greater intensity, and were in higher security. They were dangerous and powerful, and a 5 to 7 out of 10 on the Danger Scale. The floor after that, the third floor, was called the Fear Containment. You had to be an 8 to 10 out of 10 on the Danger Scale to be up there, which is powerful enough to blast mountains to rubble and demolish cities with a flick of your hand. The very few Experiments that were up there had to be locked in chains and put in dark, electricity warped Cells that were impossible to break out of. Jasper had never met one - he was only allowed to meet others from the same floor as his – but he sometimes heard their sick, pained screeches. The PA system crackled from the top of one of the walls, making him jump. A smart, bland voice told him that all Experiments from Floor 1 must come down to the lunchroom. There was a beeping sound and a small light beside the bars turned from red to green and a section of the bars slid open. A female Scientist stepped into his cell. She wore a white lab coat with a black pen and a red pen in the pocket, black trousers, and hard shoes, just like all the other Scientists. Her long, black hair fell neatly down her back and her peacock-green eyes glittered in the fluorescent light. She clipped cuffs around Jasper's legs, arms, and neck. They were all connected by a chain leash, so Jasper could not run away. The Scientist led him down the hall and down the stairs into the lunchroom. All the other Experiments from his floor were there too, about 60 or 70 of them. He immediately spotted a familiar face among the crowd and waved, trying to get her attention. The Scientist unlocked his cuffs, and he ran to meet the other Experiment. She was humanoid, but covered in black, orange, and white fur. She had long, cat shaped legs, complete with paws and claws. A long tail swirled behind her, and cat ears protruded from short, curly black, orange, and white hair, beautiful blue eyes blinking in the light. She wore exactly the same clothes as everyone else; a black t-shirt and jeans - Jasper guessed that they were put in darker shades in order to be seen better against the bright white walls - a leather collar hung around her neck, a silver bell making soft twinkling sounds as she moved. "Hey, Torts." Jasper greeted her. Torts grinned at him. “Hi Jasper.” Slowly they made their way to one of the tables, where a metal tray full of ‘food’ was placed in front of each seat. As they sat down, another Scientist, a man with shiny blond hair, came up to them. In his hand he held two syringes. Expertly, he slid the needle of one into Jasper's shoulder and pressed the trigger, injecting him with the icy blue liquid inside. He pulled it out and did the same with an orange one to Torts. Jasper was left with a sleepy, content feeling; the side effect left over from the sedatives in the blue liquid. Everyone got one of those three times a day, which prevented them from trying to escape. On Jasper's right, a girl yelped as the Scientist injected her with gold liquid. The girl, who was a cheetah from the waist down, whimpered, rubbing her arm where the needle had pierced her skin. Jasper had seen her often enough to know that her name was Cleo, and that she had been here for 5 years. Lunch lasted exactly an hour, and in that time, all Experiments could eat and talk to one another. When the clock turned one, another Scientist locked Jasper in chains and began to lead him away, back up the stairs to his cell. They shoved Jasper in and closed the bars. Jasper sighed and sat down on the cold, hard floor again and closed his eyes, wishing for freedom that he knew he would never have, and would never be brave enough to take. ‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙ ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ Well there it is!
