As I opened my eyes the next morning, I was greeted by the sight of my dorm room. It was small and cramped. I groaned softly when I realized I didn't get much sleep last night. Looking below me, I could see Fenti laying on her back, reading. She sat up, shut her book, and smiled when she saw me looking. "Good morning sleepyhead!" she said cheerfully. "Sleep well?" "Yeah, yeah.." I yawned. I stretched as best as possible. "You're going to love it here. It's great here," she said, taking off her glasses, and putting them on the small nightstand beside her bed. "Alrighty." I smiled and stood up. "I'm gonna shower then get breakfast," she stated before leaving the room. I heard her bathroom door open and close, which meant she left the room. Sighing, I quickly went through my closet and grabbed a hoodie, sweatpants, shoes, and some socks. "What are you wearing?" Fenti asked. "You know, you kind of have a uniform." She then showed me our uniform. The white color-changing button-up shirt, and the choice between a pair of black pants or a black pleated skirt. The shoes were your choice. I love the freedom of the uniform. So I wore the shirt and the skirt with pair of Converse. After getting dressed, I checked myself out in the mirror. The outfit suited me well. It was a bit tight but it was comfortable enough. Once I finished dressing, I made my way down to the dining hall. I entered slowly and quietly. So many demons were sitting at their usual seats. They looked at me curiously. I get why. There was a pink girl who Fenti told me was the most popular girl in school, however, she wasn't mean. She sitting next to a goth girl. Then I saw a girl with hands for ears. She was also pink, she looked like the sibling of the gothic popular girl. They all stared at me. The big girl with hands for ears whispered into another girl's ear. The girl looked like her sibling. "Mariana, Did they just let a human in? That girl looks like a human," the rich popular girl whispered. The popular girl looked at her. Her name was Mariana. "We can't say that, Karen," Mariana responded. And that mean girl's name was Karen. Fitting. I took a seat at an empty chair by the wall and waited for the school bell. Eventually, the bell rang. Everyone started filing out of the dining hall and into the auditorium for the assembly. Some sat closer to the stage while others stayed seated near the walls. As everyone was finally settled down the teachers started the assembly.
"Welcome all students of Valtiel Academy!" Mr. Chalan called out. So that is the name of the school. The name has been kept a secret until the first time you meet the teachers. The audience cheered happily. The teachers looked around and smiled. "Thank you for joining us this morning." They chuckled slightly. "Now that everybody is here, I'd like to introduce ourselves; first-year students." The crowd cheered even louder. "Please take your seats." A sea of plain white blouses sit. "First years, you will soon receive your house. Elevens, nature-bound demons in the underworld, hellfires, quite the opposite, valkyries, kind but slightly materialistic demons, and..." He hesitates for a second. "The odinesses, the most powerful demons in hell. There hasn't been an odiness in centuries." She says the last part quietly. "Anyhow, in just 10 minutes, your blouse will change its color. The color represents the house you have been sorted into. Yellow, Red, Purple, and navy blue." Today is Wednesday, September 11th. At exactly 3 am the next night everyone should have got their house, but the time starts at 11:11 am. The wishing hour is when people wish for their dream house. "So please make sure to wait patiently." He finishes. All eyes turn toward the new demons when the first student's blouse change to a royal purple. Karen. I kinda assumed she would be the first to get her house, especially a valkyrie. Then after her, everyone's button-up faded to different hues. Bright yellows, royal purples, and blood reds. No blues though. Not one. Fenti got hers pretty soon. A shade of yellow faded upon her shirt. "Cool! I'm elven!" she said. She looked good in yellow. I was waiting for my shirt to change. Mariana had her shirt changed to a bright purple. The goth girl, I think her name was Stacy, and her shirt was bright red. My shirt looked just the very slightest blue, but the lighting changed and it was still white. "Why is yours still white? Oh. Right. Your human!" Karen sneered. She laughed. I thought my face may burst from embarrassment. I glared at her as she kept laughing. Then the door opened to reveal three guys. "Wow, they look alike... and cute!" Karen said to Mariana, pointing at the boys. Mariana rolled her eyes. "Karen, please. Just behave." Stacy whispered harshly to her friend's sister. "So... What's up, Stacy?" I asked Stacy. She looked at me weirdly. "It's Tracy." She responded. She stared at me. She, Karen, and Mariana burst out laughing. "I must've misheard you. Sorry, Tracy." I stuttered. My face turned a bright red and I just ran out of the assembly. I wasn't the only one though. After people got their houses they just left. This was going to be way different than I think.
