Fenti and I ate breakfast together. It's amazing how fast you get used to living in a strange place. When I started to get out of my pajamas I braced myself for the color of my shirt. I hoped it changed color. I hoped. I closed my eyes, opened my dresser, and opened my eyes. A plain white shirt was placed neatly on my dresser. I was worried. Then I remembered, I still had one night to come. Some other students might now have a house yet... I hope. I tried not to worry and just slipped on my uniform. I did a quick check of myself in the mirror and then headed downstairs towards the front doors. As I made my way outside, Fenti came up behind me. "Ready for the big day?" she asked me. "Yeah, I guess so..." I said awkwardly. We both walked down the steps. As we approached the entrance, I stopped dead in my tracks and looked up to the sky. Dark grey clouds were covering the blue sky, making everything gloomy. It seemed so cold. The wind blew harshly against our faces. I shivered, hoping that my sweater would protect me from the cold. "Let's go inside," Fenti said, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. I followed her inside. The halls were filled with demons. Most of them were talking excitedly. Others were looking around and observing each other and their surroundings. I looked around too when I felt someone staring at me. I looked behind me and noticed two demons glaring at me intensely. One had his arms crossed over his chest while the other stared with curiosity, probably thinking about what to do. It made me wonder if he already figured out that I don't belong there. Or maybe there were more. If he does he better not fail... I'm ready to defend myself. Especially if those two decide to attack. I mean, they are demons. And they think I'm a human. (I am not. I will never be... I hope?) And demons always go harder on humans when they fight. "Hey!" one of them said loudly causing the rest of the demons to quiet. "Sorry. We are just curious as to what your human life has been like." The demon spoke. His voice was deep, raspy, and scary. He sounded like he was mocking me. I just sped along to my class. I didn't have time for that. I hurried to my class, ignoring the demon's comments and the stares of other demons. I entered through the double doors. I looked around, not knowing where to go. I checked my map to see where my new class is. The white heart blinked by a class for math. And I skimmed through the map to find... There! Demon history. I rushed down the hall as quickly as I could to my class. I looked around to see where the classroom was located and spotted it. I rushed to the door and opened it. I scanned the room for the teacher and found him talking to two others. He looked up and met my eyes. He motioned for me to come over. "You're Miss Anderson?" he asked as he gestured towards the empty desk. "Yes, sir," I replied. He smiled. "Please take a seat. You'll start your first class today." With that, I sat down at the desk. A guy and a girl came in, sitting behind me. Their desks were close together. I wondered if they were friends or boyfriends. Maybe they aren't. Maybe I shouldn't assume things. I heard the door open and shut again. Then my head snapped up and I saw the door open. More students came in, and all different kinds of demons took their seats. The boy beside me introduced himself. I told him my name and he introduced himself too. He seemed nice enough so I decided not to hate him just yet. The teacher stood up and clapped his hands a couple of times to quiet us. "Hello class, I'm Mr. Larken, teacher of human and demon studies and your new biology class." He said. "I hope you learn everything about hell and demons." He then went on to explain what we were doing in class. Then it turned out I paid attention because I forgot almost the entire explanation. I was just trying to memorize the names. I know all the classes well anyways. The bell rang, signaling the end of the class. "Class dismissed," he announced. The class was already starting to break up when a familiar girl appeared behind me. Karen. Of course. I didn't want to turn and look at her. She was standing by my desk with a smug grin across her face. I knew what would happen next, so I just left. I couldn't get embarrassed here. I'd be labeled a total freak. I hurriedly collected my bag and stuffed my notebook and pencils in it. Then I hurried back out of the classroom. Luckily Karen stayed with the rest of the class. I thankfully did manage to avoid her until lunchtime when she cornered me. "Okay, Anderson. Why won't you confront me? How did you get past the gates human?" Karen sneered. "I'm just here to eat lunch. Don't try anything funny." I whispered. She laughed. "Oh? You think that's gonna work?" She laughed. I glared at her. She backed away, then smirked. "Don't worry, we're done playing games." Then she left me alone. I sighed in relief. That's one problem solved.
It was around 8:30 and all classes and dining were over. I went back to my dorm room and saw Fenti sitting on her bed reading about the science of human biology. "Ralina, what happened with Karen earlier? I heard she is coming for you later tomorrow," she said. She put her book down. "Well, she called me a human and said some mean stuff," I replied. "What did she say to you?" she asked. "Just... something to make fun of me..." I responded. "Oh... so why did you run off after getting angry?" she questioned. "Because I didn't want her saying mean stuff," I replied. "That's dumb. So I suggest you talk to her. Get back at her, Ralina." she suggested. I nodded my head. Then I grabbed my backpack and headed to the bathroom. I locked the door, then changed into my pajamas. I held the white button-up up and stared at it. I hoped it would change color. I hoped it would change to any color ever. Purple, red, yellow, or even blue. Just something. It didn't change one shade. I sighed and then I went to sit at the edge of my bed. Then I pulled out my journal which I had written down some stuff. I opened it to see the words 'This boy is so cute. I chuckled. "How cute," I said. It was from last year at my middle school. I then heard a knock on the door. "Oh, Ralina it's our spirit wear!" Fenti exclaimed, and she ran to the door. I came with her. A tall demon with a bright red tail and pinkish skin held a box with our dorm number labeled on the front. 435. She gave me a package to me, as I was much taller than Fenti. Fenti was bouncing in joy but she tried to contain herself. She was so excited about her new clothes. I was excited too. As Fenti shut the door and the girl moved to the next door with Mariana and Tracy in it, Fenti gasped, "Oh my goodness, this is awesome!" She grabbed a box cutter and sliced open the box. she pulled out a sweater with the Elven colors. She squealed. She then began to pull out more and more spirit wear, yellow and gray shirts and bomber jackets, (my personal favorite) but only 2 things that did not have her name on them. One plain black sweater with the Valtiel logo and a gym uniform. "Oh. Where is my stuff?" I asked. Fenti looked at me. "Uh, did you get a house yet?" She answered. I shook my head. I guess that explains itself. I won't get my house pride until I get a house. Obviously... "Best be to bed. It's getting a little late." Fenti said. I nodded and closed my door, setting up my sleeping mat in the corner before heading into my bedroom and crawling into my bed, letting out a big sigh once I got comfortable.
